Step 1
We’ll start with the spider’s abdomen in step 1 of this spider drawing tutorial. The abdomen is the back part of the spider and we will draw it using a long oval shape.
This shape won’t have a top because we’ll be adding another part of the body on top of that. Once it looks like the reference image, you can move on to step 2!
Step 2
Using the space you left in the upper part of the abdomen earlier, we will draw the body and head for your spider drawing.
The body is very rounded and almost circular. However, at the top of this shape there will be a small but long lump that will be the spider’s head.
Step 3
If we know one thing about spiders, it’s that they are famous for their eight legs. For that reason, we’ll start drawing some details for this step-by-step tutorial on how to draw a spider!
Before drawing those legs, make sure to add two scary crab claws near the top of the head.
With these drawings, you can draw the legs near the front. As you can see in the reference image, this front sill extends right out to the side of the fork.
They are made up of three interconnected sausage shapes.
Step 4
We’ll continue adding legs to your spider drawing in the next few steps. Now add two slightly curved legs just below the two front legs you drew in the previous steps.
These will be slightly longer than the front legs, so be sure to look closely at the reference images to get the different lengths to look correct.
Step 5
We’re not kidding when we say that spiders have a lot of legs to draw! For step 5 of this spider drawing tutorial, we’ll add another row of them.
These will be even longer than the previous row. However, each of these legs will still have three parts no matter how long they are.
Step 6
We will complete the spider’s legs in this step. They will still come in 3 parts with the ones at the end being a little shorter than the others.
These legs will also have a slightly different angle and extend towards the tip of the abdomen. With all 8 pins present and accounted for, we can move on to the final details!
Step 7
Your spider drawing already looks creepy and cool, but we can make it look even better with some final details!
Spiders are also famous for having eight eyes, so be sure to draw some eyes for your spider near the end of the head.
Then it’s just a matter of drawing some final touches! In our image, we used more small lines to give the spider a furry look.
