You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

Step 1

As mentioned in the introduction, learning how to draw yin and yang can be a bit daunting, despite the simple design.
However, there is nothing to fear, as we will do it easily and slowly as we work through this guide.

One way you can make things easier is to use a pencil and compass to draw a light circle to guide you as you draw the final lines.

When you’re ready, we’ll start drawing the first half of the icon. To do this, you can draw a curve with a point at the bottom of it.

If you drew the circle with the pencil that we mentioned earlier, it will help you when you draw the outer edge of this line.

There will be a space at the beginning of it where we will add some lines later, so let’s move on to the next section.

Step 2

For the second part of your yin and yang drawing, we’ll add some more detail to the first half of the symbol you started with in the previous step.

For now, you can stretch the top of the line outward and curve inward a bit. Once you’ve drawn that line, we’re ready to complete the outline of this shape in the next step.

Step 3

You are now ready to complete the first half of this symbol in this step of our yin and yang drawing tutorial. Simply stretch another line to fill the remaining empty space in the shape outline to complete it.
Once you’re done, you can then draw a small circle on the top right of the shape. This circle will be an integral part of the symbolism of this design and you can reuse the drawing compass if you want it to be perfect.

Then we can start drawing the other half of the icon in the next step.

Step 4

For the next two parts of your yin and yang drawing, we’ll pretty much reproduce what you’ve done so far, except cloned.
You can basically go through all the previous steps when you created this second shape to make the first shape nicely.

In several iterations of this design, the two halves will touch, but this time there will be a small gap between them.

Then, once this shape outline is complete, you’ll be ready to draw the final strokes in the next step.

Step 5

Before you color your image, we’ll wrap up the final details in this fifth step of the yin and yang drawing tutorial.

The main thing to add is another circle near the bottom of the shape, as shown in our reference image. We mentioned earlier how these little circles have a symbolic meaning.

The two halves of the symbol represent light and darkness, and the circle in each half will be the opposite color to whichever halves it is contained within.

This shows that there is always a little light in the dark and vice versa. Once you’ve finished drawing this last detail, you can add some strokes of your own!

Sometimes people like to incorporate images of the sun and moon into the picture to add more symbolism to the house.

You can also paint a background for it or add some detailed elements to make it look better. These are just a few ideas you can look for, but what else can you think of to complete this picture?

Step 6

Now comes the final step of your yin and yang painting. In our image, we chose the classic black and white color that is often associated with this logo on the paper face and its shadow.
