You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below
Step 1
Start by drawing a curved line. This will outline Mario’s face and jaw.
Step 2
Next, draw a circle in the curve of the line. This will form Mario’s nose.
Step 3
Draw Mario’s ears. To do this, draw a curved line, nearly completing an oval. In the figure, draw two curved lines, connected. These lines detail the folds of the ears.
Step 4
Draw Mario’s mustache. Extend a short, curved line from each side of the nose. Below this, draw a series of short, curved lines that are connected to form a clamshell design. This scalloped line will connect the ends of the mustache.
Step 5
Draw a curved line to form the top of the head.
Step 6
Under the chin, draw a large circle. This will form Mario’s body.
Step 7
From the neck to the circle, draw two sets of parallel curves. Connect each set by drawing two short lines that meet at a point. You just drew Mario’s trouser straps.
Step 8
Remove guide lines from the body.
Step 9
Draw a curved line connecting the slings and a small circle for the button at the end of each sling.
Step 10
Draw Mario’s hands and feet. On the left side, draw a curved line extending from the neck to the middle of the side. On the right, draw a similar line. Then, draw two short, curved lines that join together to form the elbow. Draw two sets of parallel, curved lines extending downwards.
Step 11
Draw a curved line on the left arm to represent the curve of the elbow. At the end of each arm, draw a cuff using two curved lines. Draw another curved line across the belly. Then draw a curved line from the horizontal line to the bottom of the circle. Connect the ends of the legs using curved, wavy lines.
Step 12
Remove guides from the shape.
Step 13
Draw Mario’s hand, using overlapping curves to form each finger.
Step 14
Draw Mario’s shoes. Use a long, curved line to outline the shoes, creating a square for the heel. Detail the sole by drawing curved lines parallel to the sole.
Step 15
Draw Mario’s hat using two long wavy lines. The brim of the hat will extend from the ear to the other side of the head. The top of the hat will extend from the ear to the far side of the first line, enclosing the shape.
Step 16
Draw Mario’s other ear by drawing an oval, using a curved line. Add detail to the ear by drawing a small curved line. Draw another curved line to enclose the brim of the hat and a few short curves to show the hair near the first ear.
Step 17
Draw a curved line from the brim of the hat and place a circle above the line. In the circle, draw the letter “M” for Mario. Draw some more hair on the back of the head with a wavy line and connect the hanging rope
Step 18
Draw a “U” shaped line below the mustache to form the mouth. Draw ovals for the eyes and a curved shape above each to represent the eyebrows.
Step 19
Use curves in the mouth to indicate tongue and teeth. Draw an oval within an oval in each eye, coloring the smaller eye.
Step 20
Color Mario.
