You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below
Step 1
Start by drawing an oval to outline the squirrel’s head.
Step 2
Below the oval, outline the jaw using a series of curved lines. Allow the lines to meet at jagged points, forming a fur shape.
Step 3
Connect the jaw to the oval using a short curved line. Outline the upper part of the jaw with a rounded “M” shaped line.
Step 4
Erase guide lines from the face.
Step 5
Outline the body of the squirrel using a long, curved line. Continue with a series of jagged curves connected at the bottom.
Step 6
Extend a short curved line from the head to form the neck. Continue with a long curved line to form the arms. Draw a series of curved lines parallel to this line, forming the opposite side of the arm.
Step 7
Use a series of curved lines, joined at jagged points, to roughly enclose a circle at the bottom of the shape. This forms the hip of the squirrel. Draw a curved line for the back, connecting the arms to the hips.
Step 8
Draw a curved line to indicate the hip on the opposite side, leaving a little stubble on the bottom.
Step 9
Draw a bun on top of the head using a series of long and short curved lines, allowing the lines to connect with sharp points.
Step 10
Draw the ears by extending a set of curved lines on each side of the hair. Allow lines to meet at rounded points.
Step 11
Erase the guide lines from the ears and hair.
Step 12
Draw a teardrop shape to form each eye. In the eye, draw a circle. Then draw a curved line through the bottom of the circle and two smaller circles near the top. Shade between small circles and lines. Draw a few short curved lines at the top of each eye to form the eyelashes.
Step 13
Draw an upside down, rounded, slightly irregular triangle to form the nose. Draw a wide, rounded “W” shaped line to form the top of the mouth. Place an irregular shape below the top of the “W” and draw a line down the center of the shape. This forms the squirrel’s large teeth. Draw a “U” shaped line to complete the mouth and use two curved lines to indicate the tongue.
Step 14
Give the squirrel an acorn. Draw a curved, rounded, narrow rectangle to form the acorn lid. Enclose a narrow cylinder above the cap to form the stem. Indicate the distal arm with a curved line. Draw the squirrel’s hand, using narrow “U” shaped lines to form the fingers. Finally, outline the shape of the acorn using two curved lines.
Step 15
Remove the guide lines from the acorn.
Step 16
Draw a curved line above each eye to indicate the eyebrows. Surround each foot with a series of curves, allowing the lines to overlap and form the toes.
Step 17
Begin the squirrel’s bushy tail by drawing a curved line from the hip to the face and another extending from one side of the head.
Step 18
Draw a series of curved lines to enclose the tail, some of which meet at jagged points. Notice how the lines at the tip of the tail overlap, forming an opening.
Step 19
Detail each ear using two curved lines. Extend curved lines from face to arms, arms to hips, and hips to tip of tail.
Step 20
Color your cartoon squirrel.
