Step 1:
Draw your snake’s head
Start drawing your snake by drawing a slightly curved head shape.
Step 2:
Draw the middle body
Draw the neckline from the underside of the head, facing downwards. This part will also be slightly curved but in the opposite direction to the head.
Step 3:
Added rear body and tail
Continue to flex the back body and add a sharp turn that will represent the end of the tail.
Step 4:
Draw a belly for you Draw a snake easily
Draw individual segments that flex with your snake’s body. In your snake’s head, draw a small circle to represent the eyes.
Step 5:
Add the first layer of color paint
Using a regular brush and brown paint, evenly cover the whole body of the snake.
Step 6:
Add a secondary coat of paint
With the same brush you used earlier, switch to light brown paint and evenly color the belly of your snake drawing. Finish with a smooth, sharp brush and dark gray paint, and fill in the eyes.
Step 7:
Shading in your snake sketch
Pick a small, soft brush and paint in a light brown color, while adding a soft secondary coat between the bottom half of the neck and the top of the head. Continue this process on your snake’s body.
With a small brush and black paint, add shadows along the top area of the head, the curves at the neck, the rest of the body and the tail.
Step 8:
Texture your snake drawing
Start this step with a pattern brush and brown paint, and paint individual diamond pattern scales on the face and neckline of your simple snake drawing. Repeat this step with black, dark brown, and light brown paint, and paint along the rest of the body and tail.
Step 9:
Identify the features of your snake drawing
Pick a thin, sharp brush and paint it black, then trace the outline of the diamond pattern on your snake’s skin. Once done, paint the mouth with black paint. Continue with white paint and apply soft highlights on each scale pattern. Repeat with light brown paint, and paint several spots to create variety and depth.
With a soft brush and white paint, add soft brush strokes along the curve of your snake drawing to add realistic highlights.
Step 10:
Belly texture
In this step you will start adding textures to create a more realistic snake drawing! To do this, you will need to choose a soft brush and paint brown and add a soft blend of colors along the belly. Repeat using black paint and add some dark spots along the scales. Pick a blend brush and smooth these newly painted areas.
Step 11:
Mark the abdomen
To add highlights to your snake sketch, use a smooth brush and paint white and add soft brush strokes to the bottom of your snake’s belly. For the upper part of the belly, add more intensity to the highlights. Apply a final center line marker. Complete this step by adding a soft highlight to the eye of your snake drawing.
Step 12:
Add background shadow
With a soft brush and black paint, add a soft shadow just below the snake. Choose a blend brush and smooth the edges of your shadow.
Step 13:
Perfect your simple snake drawing
Use a smooth brush and corresponding colors, and trace the entire outline and any internal texture lines for a flawless and seamless look!
