Step 1
Start outlining the banana tree by drawing grass growing at the base of the tree. Use curves of different lengths that meet at jagged points. Then start drawing the trunk. It is made of repeating layers of two triangles followed by a triangle.
Step 2
Continue using the curved triangles to draw the cartoon banana tree trunk. Then extend parallel curves from the top of the trunk. Allow the lines to meet at a sharp point. Then use a series of curved lines to start drawing the palm-like leaf.
Step 3
Continue sketching the leaf, using curved “V” curves to outline the irregular edge of the leaf. Then draw a second leaf. Extend a pair of curved lines from the stem, then use a wavy curve to start drawing the side of the leaf.
Step 4
Complete the leaf. Notice that this is curled, double itself. Use curves that meet at a point to continue the central vein. Then draw another banana leaf. Extend a pair of curved lines from the stem, then use a wavy curve to start drawing the side of the leaf.
Step 5
Complete the outline of the leaf with a series of curved lines. Note that this leaf is also bent. Then start sketching the fourth leaf. Extend a pair of curves from the top of the trunk and allow them to meet at a sharp point.
Step 6
Complete the outline of the fourth leaf, using a series of curved lines to outline its serrated edges. Then start drawing a bunch of bananas hanging from the tree. Encloses many overlapping elongated shapes with rounded ends. The shapes should take turns forming a half circle.
Step 7
Use the “U” shaped lines to draw three more visible rows of bananas above the first row. Then draw the rest of the banana flower underneath the fruit bunch. Extend the two wavy lines, then connect them at the bottom by drawing an upside down teardrop shape.
Step 8
Connect the banana bunch to the tree with a pair of parallel curves, deleting if necessary. Then draw a few more leaves in the background. Again, extend the pairs of curves that meet at points to form the veins. Then use a series of curved lines to outline the edges of the leaves.
Step 9
Complete your banana tree outline by drawing the ends of the other two leaves hanging down at the back of the tree.
Step 10
Next, draw a young banana tree like the one you just sketched, but with a scale of at least 1/3 .
Step 11
Color your cartoon banana tree. The plant itself is light green including the trunk. Bananas can be green, yellow, or even pink.
