Please see the drawing tutorial in the video below

You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

Step 1

The design we have for this seahorse cartoon drawing is really cute and we will show you how you can draw it yourself as we go through all these steps.

To start, we will draw the eyes. It is drawn as a solid, simple black circle with a few white details on it to represent the sparkle of the eyes.

We also added some curves above and below the eyes to add some personality.

Then you can draw the front of the face. Seahorses have long, thin faces that end with a drooping mouth, and this is how we describe this fish.

Step 2

Draw the symbol on the top of the head
In this second step of the tutorial on how to draw a cartoon seahorse, we will add a badge on the top of the head.

This type has some long and thin structural spikes that you can see in our reference image.

Once you’ve drawn these, we’ll then add a curve between each for the soft, leathery parts between them.

That’s all that needs to be done for step 2 and then we can continue to step three.

Step 3

Expand the crest and draw more neck
You started drawing the symbol on the top of the head in the previous step, and we will stretch it further down in this third part.

The crest will move down from the head and up the neck, and we’ll start adding that in this step as well.

The top will look very similar to the first, but as you move further down the sections will get a little closer together.

Finally, use a curved line for the back of the neck below the crest, then you’re done with this step and ready for the next.

Step 4

Now complete the crest and draw the seahorse’s chest
The fourth step of this cartoon seahorse drawing will help you complete the badge you are working on and also add the chest.

First, let’s focus on the crest. It will now move down the neck even further and the sections will get even smaller as you go further.

Then we can draw the chest. Seahorses have a very odd body shape and you’ll want to try and follow the reference image closely to get the right shape.

The chest is curved, and once it’s drawn, we’re ready to add the body part to the next steps.

Step 5

Draw the rest of the body contour
You will finish contouring the body and tail of the cartoon seahorse in this next step. That should get you ready to add some final touches in the next step!

First, continue to lengthen the body down, making sure that it thins as far as it goes.

This will then culminate in the winding tail, spiraling at the end. We’ll also add a small protruding fin on the back, as shown in the reference image.

Finally, use some more curves for the contour of the stomach, and then we can move on to the final touches in the next step!

Step 6

Now let’s add some final details to this seahorse cartoon
Now you’re ready to add the final touches in this sixth step of our how to draw a cartoon seahorse tutorial.

These details will be quite simple, but they will complete it nicely. First, draw some curved lines across the stomach to add some texture.

Finally, we added small circles to the surface of the body, and you can add more or less of these shapes as you see fit.

Then you are ready for the final step! Make sure to add any additional details of your own that you might like.

They may include some background detail that shows the ocean setting with other creatures! What scene will you create for this cute seahorse cartoon?

Step 7

Finish your drawing with some colors
This final step is finishing with some color. We chose a bright, gorgeous color palette with our example image.

We used some beautiful gold and bright orange to bring this seahorse to life. You can buy these if you like the look, but that’s also up to you!

Seahorses can come in a variety of color schemes, so you have a lot to choose from in terms of color schemes.
