How to Draw Clouds Step by Step

Please see the drawing tutorial in the video below

You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

Step 1

Start by drawing a curved line to form a half circle. This will be the top of your cloud.

Step 2

Draw a smaller curved line that overlaps the first one. In doing so, you begin to give your cloud a soft shape.

Step 3

Draw another short curved line that overlaps the first one.

Step 4

Draw a series of curved lines, joined from one side of the cloud and from the bottom of the cloud.

Step 5

Continue drawing short, curved, connecting lines. Wrap the shape of the cloud by connecting the bottom part of the cloud to the other side of it.

Step 6

Remove the guides from where the cloud lobes overlap.

Step 7

Add detail to your cloud, giving it texture and depth. Draw several sets of curved lines, which join together inside the cloud, creating a soft appearance. Allow some lines to curl up into a spiral.

Step 8

Draw another small cloud behind the first one. Use curved, overlapping lines to create a fluffy, irregular shape.

Step 9

Use short, curved lines to add detail to the interior of the smaller cloud drawn in the previous step. Then draw another cloud behind the first one, using curves, that are connected.

Step 10

Color your cloud. Clouds are often depicted as white or light blue, but that’s not the only color they can have. Storm clouds can be black, gray, brown, or even green. At dawn or dusk, clouds can reflect shades of pink, purple, orange, or red.
