Step 1

Start sketching the Roman soldier by drawing the man’s face. Use curves to trace your nose, chin, nostrils, mouth, dimples, eyes, and eyebrows. Cover a circular pupil inside each eye.

Step 2

Draw the Spartan helmet around the soldier’s head. Use curved lines to draw the rounded hinge, three side layers, the curved pentagon of the visor, and the irregular circle of the back of the helmet.

Draw a curved line on the faceplate to give it a three-dimensional shape.

Step 3

Draw the top on the cartoon helmet. Attach a rounded rectangular base for the top. Use a curved line to give it a three-dimensional shape. Then place a curved trapezoid on top.

Detail the plumage with a curved line and a “V” shaped line. Use three lines to draw the man’s neck – two contour lines and one contour.

Step 4

Use overlapping curved rectangles to form the shoulder armor. Then draw another curved rectangle, like a half cylinder. This is the soldier’s great shield. Draw a curved line at an angle to add to its three-dimensional appearance.

Step 5

Draw curved lines that overlap to form the armor that protects the chest. Then, use curved lines to enclose the shirt sleeve, lower arm, and bent thumb.

Step 6

The sword in the soldier’s hand. First, use overlapping curves to form the fingers. Then attach the rectangle of the handle and the semicircles of the handle and shank. From the top of the handle, extend three curved lines to create the blade.

Step 7

Close some rounded rectangles to form the skirt-like armor of the lower body. Partial strip with vertical lines. Then use curved lines to enclose the foot and knee pads.

Step 8

Draw irregular shapes of feet and sandals. Draw the legs, feet, knee pads and the remaining slippers.

Step 9

Complete your Roman soldier sketch by adding details. Draw small circles to indicate studs in the armor. Draw perpendicular curves on the foot to tie the sandals. Place a large oval in the center of the shield, with the rectangular shadow parallel to the edges of the shield.

Step 10

Color your cartoon about a Roman soldier. The top of the helmet is usually red. The armor was made of metal, gray or silver if the soldier kept it in good condition.
