How to draw a cartoon Elephant

Please see the drawing tutorial in the video below

You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

    Step 1

Contour the elephant’s face just by drawing an irregular circle. The shape should be relatively wider at the bottom than the top, accentuating the elephant’s cheeks.

Then draw the trunk at the bottom of the face. Draw two lines that overlap the contour with a muzzle at the top. An elephant’s trunk should be bent, as shown in the illustration, to make it look lifelike.

    Step 2

    Draw an elephant’s left ear
Now that we’ve drawn the outline of the elephant’s face, it’s time to paint its other physical properties!

On the left side of the face, draw a large ear extending from the head down to the cheek. When drawn correctly, it should look quite similar to a human ear but relatively larger.

    Step 3

Now draw the elephant’s right ear
Repeat the previous step on the other side of the elephant’s ear. Try to make the ears as straight and even as possible.

    Step 4

Draw the left arm of the elephant
Just below the face, draw a curved vertical line with a horizontal line at the bottom to outline the elephant’s arm.

Elephants are naturally on the side of more force. So be sure to make chubbier arms.

    Step 5

Then draw the elephant’s right arm
Then, repeat the previous step on the other side of the elephant’s torso. Make sure that the arms of the elephant are even and in the same level.

    Step 6

Draw the left leg of the elephant
On the left side of the body, draw a slanted oval to outline the shape of the foot. Then connect it to its body using curved lines.

Similar to an elephant’s arm, the elephant’s feet should appear rough.

    Step 7

Next, Draw the right leg of the elephant
Repeat the previous step on the other side of the elephant’s torso.

    Step 8

Add patterns all over the elephant’s body
Now it’s time to add textures and details all over the elephant’s body to make it look like depth and realism.

Starting with the ear, draw a line inside the ear following the contour. This outlines the elephant’s inner ear. Then, draw three curved lines in the middle of the ear to create a crease inside the ear.

    Step 9

Now draw the elephant’s facial features
Give your elephant some emotion and expression by painting its eyes.

Draw two vertical ovals with a small circle inside the outline. Shade the entire eye while leaving the small circle unobscured. This creates a dramatic “sparkling eyes” effect, making your elephant drawing look even cuter!

Finally, here’s the fun part — coloring your amazing drawing! This is the part where you can show your artistic talent and ability to mix and match different colors.

Please see the drawing tutorial in the video below

You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

    Step 1

Start by drawing an oval or a circle. This will form the head of the elephant.

    Step 2

Drag a long and curved line from one side of the oval. Allow it to move below the oval and attach to it on the opposite side. This section outlines the lower half of the elephant’s face – the chin and cheeks.

    Step 3

Draw the tube by extending a pair of curved lines from the center of the face. Attach them to the end with an egg shape. Draw two small ovals inside the egg shape to form the nostrils and detail the top of the trunk using horizontal curves.

    Step 4

Remove the instructions from the elephant’s face.

    Step 5

Use curved lines to outline the elephant’s ears. Pay attention to the sharp tip. Then draw a slightly smaller shape inside each ear, parallel to the original outline. Draw a few curved lines extending from the top.

    Step 6

Detail of the elephant’s face. Draw a few short, curved lines at the top of the head to form a bun. For each eye, draw a horizontal curved line and enclose an oval above it. Then draw a circle containing a smaller circle and a small oval. Shade the smaller circle to form the pupil. Finally, paint a curved line over each eye to define the brows.

    Step 7

Draw the front legs using overlapping “U” shaped lines. Then, use small “U” shaped lines to wrap around the toenail.

    Step 8

Use curved lines to outline the elephant’s shoulders and hind legs. Glue an oval at the bottom of each foot and use small “U” lines to denote the toenails. Draw a spiral on each knee.

    Step 9

Draw a pair of lines to form the tail of the elephant. Finally, widen the curves and allow them to meet at some jagged point. This forms the cake at the end of the tail.

    Step 10

Color your cute baby elephant. Elephants are usually gray or brown in color. The elephants in the circus are sometimes painted white or other colors.
