Please see the drawing tutorial in the video below

You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

    Step 1.

    Draw head and body

Draw an egg shape lying on its side to make the body. Make a tear drop to the side for the head. Connect the head and body using some curved lines to make the neck.

At this point, it looks more like a duck than a dinosaur, but we’ll fix that in the next step. Check it out on the next page.

    Step 2.

    Draw wings

Draw two shapes of wings spreading out from the body. Add a tail shape, flare slightly away from the body and end with a soft spot.

On the next page, we’ll work with adding the claws and legs.

    Step 3.

    More claws and legs

Draw a small, narrow, rounded triangle for the lower jaw. Create three curved shapes at the front points of the wings for the claws. Create an upside-down pear for the thigh and draw a claw shape at the end of it. Draw another claw for the hind paws.

We will work on adding fur for the neck and legs in the next section.

    Step 4.

Add feathers to the head and legs

On top, draw circles for the eyes and ears. Add an oval for the nostrils and a thin one for the shape of the mouth. Draw long, thin ovals for the fur along the back of the head and neck and on the thighs. Outline the front of the neck with a bumpy line for more feather detail.

On the next page we will add feather outlines to the wings.

    Step 5.

    Draw outlines of feathers

Divide the wings into three long sections. Use curved lines to outline the feather details. Draw a long, pointed shape for the tail features. Detail of the outer edge of the tail with bulges to start the hair.

We will finish our work on feathers in the next section.

    Step 6.

    Finished drawing Feather

Finish off the feathers by drawing curved lines in the wings and around the tail.

We will add the final strokes to our drawing on the next page.

    Step 7.

    More final touches

Using a marker, draw over the pencil lines that you want to keep, then erase the excess pencil lines.

Your dinosaur is done! Even if you don’t get it right the first time, keep practicing until you’re satisfied with your drawing.

Ouranosaurus had strong muscles and a tall fin.
