Step 1
Start by drawing a large horizontal rectangle. Then draw a slightly smaller rectangle on top of it. These shapes form the first two layers of the cake.
Step 2
Draw another rectangle on top of the previous shapes. Then draw another, smaller rectangle on top.
Step 3
Draw a curved line between the top corners of each rectangle. Draw another curved line between the bottom corners of the largest rectangle. This helps to create a rounded shape for each layer of the cake.
Step 4
Erase the bottom and top lines of each rectangle, leaving a clean outline of the pie. Then draw a short curved line from the top corners of each rectangle to the bottom of the next layer.

Erase the remaining guides of the original rectangles, leaving a clear outline.
Step 6
Erase the top line of the top layer of the cake. In its place, draw a wavy curve. Then draw a wavy curved line through the front of each layer. This indicates a dripping icing of the cake.
Step 7
Draw small circles along the top of each layer. These will become the cake decorating cherries. Then, use a curved line to draw a half circle on top of the cake.
Step 8
Draw narrow vertical rectangles between the cherries on each cake layer. Remove overlapping lines if necessary. These are cake decorating candles.
Step 9
Draw a curved line extending from the inside of each circle, forming the body of the cherry. Then, draw a short vertical line across the top of each candle to form a wick.
Step 10
Use curved lines that meet at a point to draw a small flame on top of each candle.
Step 11
Draw a large oval overlapping the bottom of the cake. This will become the plate or tray on which the cake rests.
Step 12
Erase the overlapping part of the oval. Then draw more cherries. For each type, enclose a small circle and use a curve for the stem.
Step 13
To make the birthday cake cute, draw a cartoon face for it.
Step 14
Color your cartoon cake.
