    Easy drawing a fish

Please see the drawing tutorial in the video below

You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

    Step 1

Make an outline of the shape of the fish in the center of your paper.

To ensure that the fish will be drawn in the center of your paper, create reference lines by drawing an intersecting horizontal and vertical line on your paper.

The point where the two lines intersect marks the center and that’s where you should draw the contour.

    Step 2

Draw the gill cover of the fish
Draw a curved line in the outline to form the gills, creating a split between its head and body.

    Step 3

Next, draw the base of the fish’s tail
Draw another curved line over the tapered part of the fish’s body just before its tail.

    Step 4

    Then draw pectoral fins
In this step we will work with the fins on both sides of the fish, called pectoral fins. Since the fish is lying on its side, as shown in the illustration, only one fin is visible.

Create the shape of the fin by drawing two curved lines that are joined together. Both ends of each curve must be joined to form the pectoral fins.

When drawn correctly, its shape should resemble a slanted oval with pointed edges.

    Step 5

    Complete all fins
We will now draw the fins attached to the top and bottom of the fish, called the dorsal and ventral fins respectively.

Starting from the dorsal fin, draw an elongated curved shape that is directly connected to the upper part of the fish’s body.

Then draw an upside down triangle at the bottom to create the ventral fin. See, it’s as simple as that!

    Step 6

    Then draw the fish’s mouth
On the corner of your fish face, draw a downward and upward diagonal line that is joined together, forming an outline similar to the shape of a half-rhomb.

    Step 7

Draw the big round eyes of the fish
Draw a circle on its face to create the eyes. Then, inside the eye, draw another circle to outline the pupil. Now draw a small circle inside the pupil to highlight the iris.

When shading the eyes, buff the entire pupil while leaving the iris uncovered, creating a dramatic “sparkling eye” effect.

    Step 8

Now, add patterns all over its body
Draw long triangular patterns on the body of your fish, as shown in the illustration.

The positions of the shapes should be alternate, meaning you have to draw a triangle first on the top edge of the fish’s body, then draw a second on the bottom edge, and so on.

Feel free to customize the fish print patterns. For example, the angelfish has clear diagonal lines on its body while the common carp has only scales.

Determine which fish you want to draw first and start from there. You can also create your own unique pattern, resulting in a one-of-a-kind fish!

    Step 9

Draw bubbles coming out of its mouth
Draw multiple circles above the fish’s head to create bubbles. This will create the illusion that the fish is breathing underwater, making it look more real.

How To Draw A Fish Easy Step By Step

You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

    Step 1

Start by drawing the top of the fish, including the head, eyes, and mouth. Draw a slightly curved vertical line, with a small bump in the middle (line A, for example). Draw a quarter circle starting at the top end of line A, moving towards the left. Draw a curved triangle starting at the bottom of the circle.

    Step 2

The end of the triangle should point inward and one side should be slightly smaller than the other. This part completes the mouth. Connect the bottom end of line A to the open end of the mouth.
Now draw the rest of the body and tail as shown in the Figure Notice that the edges of the fish are rounded, and the body is not very long. The tail is as wide as the head and curved.

    Step 3

Draw the fins on the sides of the fish. The top will have a slightly larger fin, shaped like a curved triangle. Draw two small teardrop-shaped fins. Only a quarter of the sharp sides of the fins enter the body. Also, make sure that one fin is smaller than the other.

    Step 4

Draw a circle on top and make a smaller circle inside it for the eyes. A small ring inside the inner circle completes the eye. Draw a half circle with the lower lip as the base for the tongue. Do this so that the fish looks like they are smiling. An upside-down tear, slightly above the eye, will be for another fin.

    Step 5

Now let’s get to some details. Draw horizontal, horizontal bumpy lines of the fish. Finish the details by drawing thin lines as shown in
Once the simple fish drawing is done, color it!

    Step 6

Scales are perhaps the most distinctive attribute of fish. So it’s imperative that you do it right on paper. Here’s how you can practice drawing fish scales in a box, before you try them on fish (on paper, of course!).
