    Step 1

Do you know what a child and a kitten have in common? Both have exceptional body proportions. The baby’s head is disproportionately large, like a kitten’s head. In addition to the head we see two other circles that form the contours of the body, let’s draw this.

    Step 2

So we continue the tutorial on how to draw a kitty cat. Adult cats have long graceful legs. This is not surprising, because cats are very agile and flexible people. But kittens are not flexible and agile due to their small and round legs. Therefore, in this step we will draw the feet, which will look like small, round shapes.

    Step 3

Every part of a kitten’s body makes them cuter. Kittens with ears are cool, aren’t they? In this step, we’ll draw a vertical circular outline of the tail and a pair of ears that look like regular triangles.

    Step 4

Now let’s add eyes to our kitty drawing. As you can see, the eye is significantly shifted towards the lower edge of the head. Our kitten’s eyes look like large, round shapes, lying slightly on the side. Another feature of our kitten is the presence of large round pupils.

    Step 5

Now it’s time to draw the lower part of our kitten’s face. To do this, we will draw a shape that looks like a small mushroom. We also added a few additional ovals in this area. These shapes represent the kitten’s nose and cheeks.

    Step 6

So at this point we have a rough sketch of this cute kitten. Therefore, in this step, we will move on to creating smaller details. Let’s start by drawing the inside of the kitten’s ears. We won’t be able to draw all the hair covering the kitten’s body, but with the help of small short strokes we will outline small areas of this hair.

    Step 7

We keep adding small details. In this step we will draw short rounded toes. As you can see, the fingers seem to stick out slightly forward. To achieve this effect, draw small horizontal lines at the top of each finger.

    Step 8

So we are about to finish this tutorial on how to draw a kitten. In this step, we will delete all the redundant construction lines that we used in the previous steps. In addition, we will draw in pencil around the shape of the kitten, its eyes and other body parts. At this stage, you need to press harder on the pencil. Using short strokes, we create a soft fur effect on the kitten’s belly, ears and chest.

    Step 9

If we worked with our eyes a little more, our kitten drawing would look a lot more realistic and alive. To achieve this effect, paint over the pupils using a dense layer shadow and make sure to leave some room for the highlights, like in our example. Also, add shadows to other parts of the kitten’s body.

    Step 10

If you follow the correct sequence of steps, you should get something like a drawing of a kitten created by the artists of Drawingforall.net.

You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

    Step 1

Starting at the top right part of the paper, draw two triangular cat ears connected by a downward curved line. This figure outlines the kitten’s ears as well as the top of the head.

To ensure that the outline will be placed in the proper position, draw a horizontal and a vertical line on the paper to create reference lines. When drawn correctly, the guide will divide your paper into four square dividers. The empty space in the upper right corner is where you should draw the outline.

By starting from the top right part of the paper, you have enough space to draw the kitten’s entire face and body.

    Step 2

    Sketching a kitten’s face
Extend the lines from below the ears down to the kitten’s chin. The kitten’s face shape should be slightly wider at the button than at the top to accentuate its chubby cheeks.

Don’t forget to add spiky tufts of hair on each side of the face!

    Step 3

Then draw the kitten’s front paws
Just below the kitten’s face, draw the front paws side by side. As shown in the illustration, you can draw the front legs by drawing overlapping curved lines below the face.

Emphasize the fur on the kitten’s chest area to make the kitten look more fluffy and voluminous!

    Step 4

Draw the bottom part of the kitten’s body
Draw a downward curved line to outline the back and bottom of the kitten. The back should be structured downwards, while the bottom should be bent like a semicircle.

When drawn correctly, the outline should resemble a downward sloping line so that the kitten looks like it is sitting down.

    Step 5

Next, Draw the kitten’s hind legs
Draw another curved line opposite the bottom of the kitten to outline the thighs. Then, draw a paw with your paw just below the kitten’s bent thigh.

Don’t forget to add lines on the kitten’s paws to create a division between its claws.

    Step 6

    Then draw the kitten’s tail
On the bottom part of the kitten’s body, draw a long, fluffy tail. As you can see in the illustration, the tail is as simple as drawing a curved sausage.

However, you can draw the tail any way you like. You can make it as hairy as you want by adding large tufts of feathers that stick out all over the tail.

    Step 7

Outline of a kitten’s inner ear
Inside the kitten’s ear that we drew in the first step, let’s draw a triangle following the contour.

This will outline the inside of the ears, thus making the kitten’s body features look more likeable and realistic.

    Step 8

Now, Draw the Kitten’s Nose and Mouth
On the bottom part of the face, draw an upside down triangle in the center to create the kitten’s nose.

Then, draw two curved lines just below the nose to outline the mouth. The kitten’s mouth should look like a curved letter “w”.

    Step 9

    Then Draw the kitten’s eyes
Just above the nose, draw two vertical ovals slightly apart.
