How to draw a Penguin step by step

Please see the drawing tutorial in the video below

You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

    Step 1

Sketch of a penguin’s head and body
Start drawing with the outline of the penguin’s head and body. Make sure to leave a space above the head for the “fluff” and a space below the body for the feet.
Draw the top sections of the head into a large curved line with smaller lower curves down each side of it for cheeks.
Draw the sides of the body with two smooth curves and give it a slightly flat-looking bottom.

    Step 2

    withdraw money
Coming out from below the body add feet. Give each bird three toes with smooth curves in between them to show that they are webbed (like a penguin’s feet).

    Step 3

    Drawing Flippers
On the sides of the body, just below the head/cheeks, add flippers. Make each one wider near its base and narrower as it comes out. You can also draw each one with a slight downward curve following its shape.
Once done, delete the parts of the body contour that you added them to.

    Step 4

    draw eyes
Draw each eye in an upside down “U” shape. Touching the inner corners of the eyes, draw another set of similar shapes for the pupils.
Inside the pupil draw a pair of small ovals for highlight/reflection.

    Step 5

    Draw the beak
Just a little bit under the eyes draw the beak. Shaped a bit like a flat lemon. Inside it draw the mouth as a slight curve.

    Step 6

Draw a bunch of feathers on the head
To make the penguin look a little more interesting, add a bunch of small feathers to the top of its head.

    Step 7

    End of line drawing
To complete the penguin feather sketch. It should start at the top of the beak, then wrap around the eyes and cheeks, then follow the curve of the body.
After you have sketched all the parts of the penguin, you can outline your drawing with a black pen, marker, or darker pencil lines.

    Step 8

    Coloring penguins
However, if you want your drawing to have a bright color similar to the penguin in the example then a marker can be a good choice, however you can also use paint or a pencil color if desired.
Shaping the outside of the body, flippers and a little fluff on the top of the head in black. Fill the beak and feet with orange, and the eyes a light blue (leave the previously outlined reflection white).

    Step 1

Draw a circle. This will form the penguin’s head.

    Step 2

Draw an oval that overlaps the original circle. This will add detail to the shape of the head.

    Step 3

Remove guide lines from the top.

    Step 4

Draw an egg-shaped oval overlapping the bottom of the head. This will form the body of the penguin.

    Step 5

Extend a curved line from each side of the body, just below the head. Corner the line so that it doubles in on itself and surrounds a rounded, slanted triangle. This outlines the penguin’s flippers. Then draw a short curved line down the center of each flip sheet.

    Step 6

Erase the guide lines from the point where the head and torso overlap.

    Step 7

Draw feet. For each foot, extend two short, slightly curved lines from the bottom of the body. Connect the lines using several short, curved lines to form the toes.

    Step 8

Add detail to the stomach by enclosing an oval using a long and curved line. Draw a small, curved, inverted triangle in the center of the face. This forms the upper part of the beak. Using a short curved line, enclose a circle below to form the lower part of the beak. Then draw two curved lines from the beak to the top of the head.

    Step 9

Draw a circle on each side of the beak to form the eyes. In each eye, draw a smaller circle. Shade between two circles.

    Step 10

Color your penguin. Penguins typically have black feathers on the body and wings, with white patches on the face and abdomen.
