    Step 1

    Start by drawing the salamander’s facial features. Draw a wide curved line for the smiling mouth and cover it with short curved lines at the ends. Above, the mouth, draw the eyes. For each one, place a small oval inside a larger oval and create a shade between them. Draw a curved line below each eye to contour the cheeks.

    Step 2

    Sketch the face shape of the axolotl. Use a long, curved line for the top of the head and another for the cheeks and jaw. Then draw the outer gills, sometimes referred to by axolotl enthusiasts as the “fern head”. Use a pair of curves for each gill and connect them using short lines at the bottom.

    Step 3

    Use wavy curves to enclose the carrier fibers.

    Step 4

    Draw the gills on opposite sides of the head, using a pair of curved lines for each side. Start drawing the carrier fibers with a wavy curve.

    Step 5

    Draw the fibers of the remaining gills, using a wavy curve for each gill. Then outline the body. Extend a long, curved line above and below the head.

    Step 6

    Draw front legs. Use pairs of curves for the top and bottom legs, noting elbow bends. Close the fingers with “U” shaped lines. Then, widen the belly and start the hind legs in curved lines.

    Step 7

    Complete the back leg, using a series of short, curved lines to form the toes and the back of the leg. Then use two long curved lines that meet at one point to enclose the large tadpole-like tail. Notice how the tail line overlaps the animal’s back.

    Step 8

    Side contour of the body with curves. Then use curved lines to draw the remaining front leg.

    Step 9

    Close the remaining hind leg with a series of curved lines. Then draw two long curved lines down the middle of the tail, so that they meet at one point.

    Step 10

    Color your cute cartoon axolotl. The salamander is usually white or pale pink with bright pink to red gills. Some are dark brown with black spots.

    Step 1:

    First, let’s draw the head. It is long and round, like the end of your thumb. Leave it open when finished.

    Now draw the front leg and a curved line for one side of the body. Body long and slender.

    For your next step, draw the other front leg and the other side of the body. The salamander has very short legs and five toes.

    For your final step, draw the iguana’s eyes and give them some detail. Draw two circles near the end of the head and place oblique lines going through the middle of each.
