How To Draw A Sonic The Hedgehog Step By Step

Please see the drawing tutorial in the video below

You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

    Step 1

    Start by drawing a circle.

    Step 2

Draw spikes on the back of Sonic’s head. Do this by drawing six curved lines, one long and one short. Allow lines to connect into sharp points.

    Step 3

Draw a smaller oval that overlaps the bottom of the head.

    Step 4

Remove the guide lines from the oval.

    Step: 5

Draw Sonic’s ears, using two curved lines for each ear. Let the lines meet at sharp points, forming a triangle.

    Step: 6

Draw a small triangle inside the proximal ear. Draw two curved, parallel lines extending outward from the body. Draw another curved line, double back to itself, overlapping the body.

    Step: 7

Erase the guide lines from the head and arms.

    Step: 8

Draw the legs extending down from the body, using two curved lines for each leg.

    Step: 9

Remove the guide lines from the body.

    Step: 10

Draw an oval just behind the end of each arm. Add two spikes behind Sonic.

    Step: 11

Draw the hand rest between the arm and each oval. The left hand will consist of two curved lines forming the enclosing shapes. Note the “thumb up” of the left hand. The right hand consists of a small oval overlapping a larger oval and a curved line that partially encloses the oval.

    Step: 12

Erase the guide lines from the hand.

    Step: 13

Draw the fingers using a series of curved lines, connected in the large oval of the hand.

    Step: 14

Erase the guide lines around the fingers.

    Step: 15

Draw socks at the bottom of the legs. Start by connecting the leg lines with a curved line. Then use a series of three curves of various sizes to enclose the shape of the sock.

    Step: 16

Extend a short and curved line down from the sock. Then draw a long and curved line from the other side of the sock to the short line. Draw two more curved lines on the shoe.

    Step: 17

Use two curved lines to form the left shoe, which meets at a point. Draw two more curved lines on the shoe.

    Step: 18

Using a curved line, enclose an oval on the torso. Draw a curved line starting on one side of the face, extending to the shoulders. Using curves, draw two partial ovals above the previous curve. Connect the ovals piece by piece using a curved line.

    Step: 19

Draw and shade a small oval within each partial oval. Draw a curved line above each eye. Draw and shade another oval to form the nose. Draw a curved line to form the mouth, with a smaller curved line at its top end. Draw two short curved lines that meet at a point to form the tail.

    Step: 20

Finish your Sonic drawing by erasing a small oval area inside each eye and nose.

    Step: 21

Sonic the Hedgehog color. He is traditionally painted dark blue with a tanned face, belly, arms, and inner ears; red shoes; and white eyes, gloves and socks.

You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

    Step 1

Start by sketching the hedgehog’s face. Use overlapping curves to create the face, snout, and lower jaw.

    Step 2

Start outlining the hedgehog’s plumage. Above the head, use short, curved lines that meet at jagged points to indicate shaggy coat. Do the same under the head, indicating the fur on the chest and abdomen.

    Step 3

Continue using short lines of different lengths to shape the feathers and spikes. Wrap the whole form of the animal in this way.

    Step 4

View details of the hedgehog’s face. Draw two large, watery eyes, using a circle within a circle for each eye. Draw an oval and a smaller circle in the inner circle and shade around these to form the pupil. For the nose, draw an oval at the tip of the muzzle. Draw a small circle to represent the shading, and fill the nose with color.

    Step 5

Draw a series of short, curved lines that join together in jagged points above the animal’s face and along the animal’s flanks. This separates the sharp spikes above from the soft undercoat.

    Step 6

Draw “V” shaped lines, some connected and a few, on the animal’s back to indicate stiff spines.

    Step 7

Draw the feet using curved lines. Notice the overlapping lines to distinguish the toes.

    Step 8

Draw the ears, erasing the guide lines as needed. For each ear, draw a small “C” shaped line within a larger “C” shaped line.

    Step 9

Use some “U” shaped lines to form the rear foot, which protrudes from below the guard spikes. Draw curved lines on each side of the nose to indicate the beard.

    Step 11

Color your hedgehog. Most hedgehogs are brown, tan, and gray in color. Some also have albinism, which lacks pigment in their feathers and is therefore white. If you want, you can get creative – color your hedgehog blue like Sonic, or black and red like Shadow.
