These are the largest dogs in the world. I don’t think it will come as a big surprise that the Irish Wolfhound will become number one or close to it! It’s an ancient breed that has existed in Ireland since 800 AD, over a millennium and beyond!! Gentle Giant
Is your definition of the largest the tallest or the heaviest? My St. Bernard is huge, weighing 205 pounds when we took him in but he is a rescue dog and quite thin. With love and care, the right food, and plenty of walking, he felt extremely fulfilled. I don’t know how much it weighed when we gave it to a friend who also has a Newfoundland but I estimate it to be over 250 pounds. Too big for my house and we only took him in when he was about to be laid down, it hurt to let him go but he got the right home in the end. He was replaced by 2 rescued Chihuahuas just like the extra children in our family.
