Step 1
Start by sketching the dragon’s face. Use a series of overlapping curved lines to draw the eyebrows, muzzle, mouth, and lower jaw. Draw a zigzag line through the back of the head and small triangles for the nose and eyes. Draw the muzzle detail with a curved line and paint a dot inside the eye to represent the pupil.
Step 2
Use pairs of curves that meet at points to outline the ears and horns. Ear detail with a curve on it. Use a wavy curve for the mane between the horns. Extend two long, curved lines from the base of the head to outline the long, curved neck.
Step 3
Draw two curved lines from the base of the head to the base of the neck. This shows the lower part of the dragon. Continue drawing the serrated line of the mane down the back of the neck, finally joining it. Next, use the overlapping curves to start outlining the dragon’s shoulders.
Step 4
Band the underside of the neck with curves, giving the appearance of ribbed scales. Then draw sharp forearms and claws. Extend a pair of curved lines to form each arm. Then use pairs of curves that meet at points to create fingers and claws.
Step 5
Continue the lines of the dragon’s body, joining the forearm as the body comes out behind it. Draw a series of jagged lines around this body part, continuing the spikes on the mane or back.
Step 6
Continue the mid and outer body lines of the forearm. Then allow them to meet at one point. From the spine, extend a long, curved line. From the point of intersection of the body lines, extend the serrated line of the spine.
Allow it to meet the remaining curve at a sharp point. Then extend another curved line from the upper part of the spine. Draw a curved line from the shoulders to the torso and draw the shape using curved lines.
Step 7
Draw a tuft at the tip of the tail. Use a series of curved lines that meet at gentle points to enclose the leaf-like shape. Then extend long, curved lines from each side of the muzzle, forming a dragon’s beard.
Step 8
Color your cartoon about dragon Haku. It is white with a green mane.
