How To Draw A Dragon Cute Step By Step

Please see the drawing tutorial in the video below

You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

Step 1

Starting from the upper left corner of your paper, draw the outline of the dragon’s face. The dragon can face its left or right side, depending on which way you prefer.

Remember to make enough space for the dinosaur’s huge eyes, nose and mouth. The outline should look relatively similar to that of a reptile.

Avoid drawing the dragon’s head in the center of the paper to leave enough space where you can draw the dinosaur’s body. The body requires a much larger space than the head.

Step 2

Sketch of the dragon’s face
Fill in the details of the dinosaur’s face. Start with a pair of large circles for the eyes, then draw two parallel curved lines to create noticeably larger nostrils.

Remember that dragons have many physical features with a reptile, so make sure your drawing resembles a winged and horned snake, lizard, crocodile, alligator or salamander as much as possible.

Step 3

Next, Draw the Body of the Dragon
Draw the body of the dinosaur attached to its face. You can make your body chubby or skinny as you like. If you want to make your dinosaur look muscular, draw a bloated belly.

On the other hand, if you like a slimmer and leaner body, emphasize its muscles. The sky is the limit for your imagination; Take advantage of it!

Step 4

Now, Draw Dragon’s Legs
Attach a pair of three-toed feet to the dragon’s limbs. Dragons are often depicted with three toes/claws because the Japanese believe that oriental dragons are descended from their native homeland.

However, feel free to step out of the ordinary! Create as many fingers as you want your dragon to have. There is no limit to creativity!

Don’t forget to draw extremely sharp claws — that’s one of the dragon’s distinctive physical features!

Step 5

Then add the dragon tail
Add a tail attached to the lower part of the dragon’s back. Same with the body, you can make it thick or thin, long or short.

Draw an upside down heart at the tip of the tail to finish. In other illustrations of dragons, there are even sharp spikes that surround the entire dragon’s tail. Do not hesitate to customize the characteristics of the dragon’s tail. After all, it’s your artwork!

Step 6

Next, Draw Dragon’s Wings
Draw a pair of wings that are connected to the dragon’s back. The wings of a dragon resemble the wings of a bat. Their wings have many physical features, including its skin-like surface as well as layered patterns on the bottom of the wings.

Feel free to draw the wings however you want. Unleash your creativity and allow your hands to follow your imagination.

Step 7

More features on dragon body
Now, it’s time to draw the dragon’s body features, including the horns, ears as well as the patterned ridges on the top of its head.

The dragon’s ears can look like a smaller version of the wings, so you can draw the ear exactly the way you drew its wings.

Draw two pointed triangles that look like fangs on top of its head to create the horns. You can make it as long or short, as thick or thin as you like.

Finally, add a few ridges on the surface of the dragon’s head to add detail, making your drawing look more realistic.

Step 8

Complete the Dragon’s facial features
Add shading to the eyes and nose to create the illusion of depth. You can leave two white space bubbles in the dragon’s eyes for a “sparkling eyes” effect. The eyes evoke a bit of expression and emotion for the dragon.

Draw parallel lines on the dragon’s horns, ears and wings for a more realistic effect. Also, don’t forget to draw a set of sharp teeth to make your dragon look ferocious!

Step 9

Fill in the details and form
Combine the same parallel lines pattern from the previous step with the dragon’s belly and the bottom of its tail. And while you’re at it, draw some circular patterns all over the dragon’s body to complete the look!
