Easy drawing butterfly step by step

Step 1:

Draw a circle.
First, draw a circle on the top half of your drawing paper. This will be your butterfly head/face.

Step 2:

Draw an elongated oval connecting the circle.
From the bottom of the circle, draw an oval that extends downwards and tapers at the bottom. Make sure the oval touches the bottom of the circle. This forms the body of the butterfly.

Step 3:

Draw two curved lines on the body.
Draw two evenly spaced curved lines on the butterfly body as shown. This is the belly of the butterfly.

Step 4:

Draw smiley face.
Now, on the face (the circle drawn in Step 1), draw a smiley face with two small circles for the butterfly’s eyes and a curved line for its smile.

Step 5:

Draw two lines at the end on top.
On the butterfly’s head, draw the whiskers using two opposite spiral curves, as shown in the figure.

Step 6:

Draw two circles on each side of the butterfly’s body.
Draw two circles overlapping the butterfly’s body in the center. These circles are the front wings of the butterfly. Use the curves of your belly as a reference to get the perfect shape possible.

Step 7:

Draw a curved line at the bottom of each wing.
Draw a curved line at the bottom of each wing and connect it to the bottom of the butterfly’s body. These are the butterfly’s hind wings.

Step 8:

Draw curved lines from the lines on the belly.
Now, connecting the two curved lines on the belly, draw a curved line inside each front wing, as shown in the picture.

Step 9:

Draw two curved lines at the bottom of the body.
From the point where the butterfly’s body meets the hindwing, draw a curved line on each side, facing away from each other. Draw a small circle at the end of each of these lines. These lines are the legs of the butterfly.

Step 10:

Draw circles in the middle of each front wing
In the center of each front wing, draw two concentric circles, touching each other as shown in the image below.

Step 11:

Draw small circles on the front wings.
On the outermost part of the front wing, draw three small circles on each side of the wing.

Step 12:

Color the butterfly.
Now, take out all your colors and decorate the butterfly in as many shades as you want.
