Step 1

Draw the head
Similar to the previous example, start by drawing the basic outline of the head without any hair.

Step 2

Draw the hairline
Add the path for the hairline as shown in the example above.

Step 3

Draw the outline of the hair
On top of the head and hairline, draw a basic outline of real hair without any small details.

When the hair is combed back, it exposes a large portion of the hairline, making a pointer especially useful. To keep the hair looking natural, you can create large sections of hair that overlap the guide line but at the same time try to follow its general shape.

Erase the hairline and the hair-covered ends once you’ve completed this step.

Step 4

Add some details
In the main contour drawing of the hair, start adding some larger inner waves/folds.

Step 5

Finish drawing lines
Complete the drawing by adding the smallest detail of the various folds and curves.

Step 6

Start applying Shading
Similar to the previous example, we will shade this hairstyle as if it were in a fairly general lighting condition without strong unidirectional light.

Start by applying fairly light strokes along the different folds of the hair. Again, the purpose of this step is to establish the overall direction of the pencil strokes as well as the position of the main highlights (bright areas), shadows, and medium tones (general gray areas).

Step 7

Enhance the ball
Start darkening and smoothing the shadows by applying another layer of strokes. Make this layer a little darker than the previous one. Again, the reason for applying gradual shading is to help avoid potential mistakes. You can see the same step of the previous example for a more detailed explanation of this.

Step 8

Finished hair drawing
Darken the shadows even more by applying more strokes. Once you’re almost done, you can redraw some small lines that stick out from the main shape of the hair to give the look of individual hairs. This will make the drawing look more realistic.

To make these short strokes, first press harder on the pencil and then quickly remove your hand from the paper.

Step 9

Drawing beard and glasses : You align so that it lies with the face and note the highlights and shadows of the detail.
