Step 1
First draw the stickman of our ninja. Stickman – a man made of sticks and circles, who needs to sketch out his character’s shape, proportions and position on paper. As in all the other drawing lessons, we draw the oval as a guide for the head and use simple lines to outline the body.
Step 2
Mark out our ninja’s head, using two perpendicular lines (right angles) – the vertical line indicating facial symmetry and the horizontal line – of the eyes. Then draw the arms, using long cylinders. Draw the contours of the torso, tapering downwards.
Step 3
Do the same for the lower part of our ninja figure. At this stage, it is better to imagine parts of the body in the form of simple geometric shapes. The groin area resembles a triangle, the femur of the leg looks like a cylinder, but tapers towards the knee. The shins have a characteristic bend, formed by the calf muscles. Here we outline the contours of the foot.
Step 4
Now, since the ninja silhouette is ready, we should start adding the details. We usually add details from the top down i.e. head to toe and this drawing lesson will be no exception. Draw a hood and mask covering the lower part of the face. In the same step, outline the eyes, focusing on the facial markings from the second step. Incidentally, the mask should also be drawn with these lines.
Step 5
Draw a hand holding a samurai sword. Note that here we draw a samurai sword of medium length (wakizashi). In fact, drawing cold weapons is not so difficult, but hands are very difficult.
Step 6
Circle the pins with wavy outlines that, as in our pattern, mark the fabric folds. Erase the extra guides from the previous steps and draw the outer contours of the pants. Please note that the closer to the foot, the better the pants will fit. Here we draw the belt and the lower part of the upper garment hanging below the belt.
Step 7
Draw the mask and the facial features we can see as well as the folds of the fabric on the hood. Erase the guides and circle the lines of the hood. Draw the outline of the nose below the mask. (You can see such a contour in the tutorial on how to draw Spider-Man’s head.) Then draw the eyes (note the position of the pupils, they point to the direction of view) and the eyebrows. Now draw the creases on the hood.
Step 8
Let’s add details to the ninja’s outfit. Two flat bands form the letter “y” indicating the collar. Use smooth strokes to add folds. They are particularly tightly located on the ninja’s right arm, above the armband and in the armpit area. Here draw the texture on the hilt.
Step 9
