Step 1:
Start with the head
Draw a small circle for the giraffe’s head. Add a long, narrow shape extending down from the circle to create the neck. Giraffes are famous for their long necks, so you can freely adjust the height of the neck as you like.
Step 2:
Add body
Extend the neck down in a long, slightly curved line to create the body. Giraffes have a distinctive shape, with a sloping back and round belly.
Step 3:
Sketch the legs
Draw four long, thin lines extending from the lower part of the body to create the legs. Giraffes have long, skinny legs, so keep that in mind when drawing. You can add small ovals at the end of each leg to make hooves.
Step 4:
Create tail
Add a tuft of hair at the end of the giraffe’s tail, usually a tuft of hair. The tail itself should be thin and extend from the back of the body.
Step 5:
Add details to the head
Draw two small pointed bones (horn-like structures) on top of the giraffe’s head. Giraffes usually have two cubs, but sometimes males have more. Add eyes, ears, and nose to complete facial features.
Step 6:
Body tuning
Add details to the body, such as the giraffe’s famous spots. These spots may have irregular shapes scattered across the body.
Step 7:
Perfect the details
Refine any remaining details, such as facial features and spot patterns. Delete any unnecessary guides or overlapping lines.
Step 8:
Sketch and color
Once you’re satisfied with your sketch, sketch out the final lines with a darker pen or pencil. Giraffes usually have tan skin with irregular spots, so you can use brown and yellow to color it.
