Step 1

Start by drawing the postman’s hat. Use a series of curved lines to outline its hat, crown, and rim.

Step 2

Draw the face using curved lines. Use a “C” shaped line for the ear and detail the inside of the ear with additional curves.

Step 3

Draw the hair, completing the contours of the face. Use overlapping curves.

Step 4

Detail of the postman’s face. Draw large circles for the eyes. Draw a curved line over the top of each circle to represent the eyelids and a smaller circle for the pupils. Then, use a curved stroke to draw pointed eyebrows, a nose and a smiley mouth.

Step 5

Draw the logo on the hat. Use curved lines to outline a feathery wing resembling a bird’s wing. Then draw two circles around it.

Step 6

Draw the postman’s shirt. Use curved lines to outline the triangular collar, shoulders, sleeves, and torso. Draw a line down the center of the shirt. On one side of it, draw some small circles to form buttons.

Step 7

Draw the postman’s arm. Use pairs of curves to draw the upper and lower arms. Then use overlapping curved lines to outline the hand and fingers. Outline the nails using curved lines. In one hand, draw a letter. First, sketch a rectangle. Then draw a circle in the center, with straight lines radiating to the top corners. This is the cover of the envelope and its seal. Draw a small rectangle in the bottom corner.

Step 8

Unplug mail bags, delete as needed. Use a pair of long curved lines for the shoulder straps. Use curved lines to outline the rounded rectangular edges, front, flap, and latch of the bag.

Step 9

Wrap three rectangles underneath the shirt to form the belt. Then, lengthen the pairs of long lines and join them at the ends, forming pants. Detail the fabric of the pants using extra curves. Finally, sketch out the irregular shapes of the postman’s shoes.

Step 10

Color your cartoon postman. In many countries, the postal uniform is blue. Package delivery services such as UPS sports brown uniforms.
