How To Draw Yoshi step by step

Please see the drawing tutorial in the video below

You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

Step 1: To draw Yoshi, start with a small circle at the top right of the page. This is the basic shape for Yoshi’s head. Under the circle, draw a thick crescent moon. The points of the half moon should point to the right and the circle of the moon should be to the left. This is the basic shape for Yoshi’s body.

Step 2: Next to the head you drew in step 1, draw a circle the same size as the head. Draw this circle to the left of the head and a little higher. The two circles should overlap and look like a Venn diagram. This circle will be Yoshi’s nose. Below Yoshi’s nose circle, draw a U-shaped curve connecting the nose circle and the head circle. This will be Yoshi’s mouth.

Step 3: You will now draw two upside-down U-shaped curves on top of the character’s head in this video game. Both curves should overlap and connect the head circle to the nose circle. These will be Yoshi’s eyes.

Step 4: On the upper left side of Yoshi’s semicircular body, draw a short line going up and to the left, then draw a circle at the end of that line. At the end of the circle, draw four small lines going up and to the left. To the right of his body, draw a larger curve with a larger circle at the end. These are the basic instructions for Yoshi’s hand.

Step 5: From the lower left side of Yoshi’s body, draw a small line with an oval shape underneath. To the right of that line, draw a longer line starting inside the moon shape and going down and out a bit. Under this line draw a circle. These are the basic instructions for Yoshi’s feet.

Step 6: It’s Yoshi’s original sketch from Nintendo’s Mario Brothers video game! You’ve got the basic Yoshi figure, so now you’re going to go in and tighten up your drawing. From this point on, press harder with the pencil to get bolder lines and sharper sketches.

Step 7: Shade the shape of Yoshi’s nose and draw two small curved lines in the upper left for his nostrils. Tighten the shape of his mouth by drawing a smiley line on the lower right side of the upside down U shape. Draw a second U-shaped curve above to create Yoshi’s lower lip. Inside this lip, draw another curved line to create his tongue.

Step 8: Tighten Yoshi’s eye shape. Draw some eyelids and a curved line below where the eye meets Yoshi’s cheek. Draw an oval inside the right eye and a half oval on the left. This is Yoshi’s student.

Step 9: Bold the shape of the back of this video game character’s head and draw a large curved line from the back of his head to the side of his mouth to represent his cheeks. On the back of Yoshi’s head, draw three small bumpy lines to represent his spikes.

Step 10: Draw in Yoshi’s right hand by thickening the guide and giving him a fist and knuckles.

Step 11: To start drawing Yoshi’s right leg, first highlight the circle of the foot and make it flatter at the bottom. Draw a horizontal line below it to make the sole of the shoe.

Step 12: Now draw a few curved lines on the original circle to create the ankles of Yoshi’s shoe and attach them to the circle with two small lines on each side. Then thick guide Yoshi’s feet.

Step 13: Darken Yoshi’s body and tail. Draw a curved line inside the semicircle starting at his neck and ending at his right leg. Draw a line above Yoshi’s tail, which is the continuation of the curve you just drew from neck to toe. The scalloped saddle on Yoshi’s back is hidden with his right hand, so just draw a few lines to indicate it’s there.

Step 14: Draw Yoshi’s left hand by thickening the shape of the paths. Round his fingers and make sure that the small curve of his thumb is drawn inside the hand.

Step 15: Yoshi’s left foot is very similar to his right foot. Flatten the bottom of the oval and draw a horizontal line below it to make the soles of his shoes. Draw two curved lines above the original oval to create the upper part of the shoe. Then draw a small line connecting his body to the shoe to represent his legs.

Step 16: That’s it! You now have a nice sketch of Yoshi from Nintendo’s Mario Brothers video game. You can stop at this quick drawing for a rough, rough look or continue to the step below for a more finished look.

Step 17: For a more finished, ink-filled look, carefully draw the final outlines with a pen or marker. Wait for the ink to dry, then erase your pencil marks. You now have a complete drawing of Yoshi! You can stop here or move on to the final step to complete your entire Yoshi drawing.
