In “713,” pianist James Francies and his associates (and friends in Houston), drummer Jeremy Dutton and bassist Burniss Travis, present a piece of music that always gives me time to sit and breath. The atmospheric vibe of the track, aided by a mix of synths, is perfect for putting your gear on mute and letting it overwhelm you. As soon as you get chills, however, “713” will capture your mind as the trio showcases a nuanced interplay attesting to their sonic and geographical similarities. On the contrary, there has never been a more enjoyable exercise.
