    Step 1

    Make two shapes that will be for the head and body guide. When that is done sketch in the facial guidelines as well.

    Step 2

    Define the shape for Bulbasaur’s head and also incorporate the ears or small mounds for the ears.

    Step 3

    Draw in the wide open mouth shape and then add the tongue and teeth.

    Step 4

    Using the facial guidelines you will draw the large shapes of the eyes. Add the pupils and then the markings on the face which are speckles or spots. Don’t forget the nostrils slits as well.

    Step 5

    We are done with Bulbasaur’s head and face so lets start tackling the body. Do so by drawing the front limbs and claws, then add some spots too.

    Step 6

    Draw the back end of Bulbasaur, which should include the back leg and nails. Don’t forget those two spots.

    Step 7

    And lastly, draw the large garlic like bulb on his back. Add the lining to detail the bulb and then you’re done. Erase the mistakes and all the guides too.

    Step 1

    Start by drawing a circle. This will form Charmander’s head.

    Step 2

    Extend curved lines down from each side of the circle, giving shape to Charmander’s jaw and neck.

    Step 3

    Enclose Charmander’s body using a long, curved line. Duplicate it back to itself to form an irregular shape.

    Step 4

    Draw Charmander’s outstretched arms. Start by outlining each arm using two curved lines. Then, use a series of small “V” shaped lines to join the lines of the arms, forming pointed fingers. Don’t forget the “V” shaped thumb on the proximal arm. Finally, use a long and curved line on the belly to make an egg-shaped mark.

    Step 5

    Use two curved lines to outline the leg, noting how it overlaps the belly. Enclose the feet by drawing curved, triangular claws.

    Step 6

    Draw the other leg. Use curved lines to outline each side of the leg. Then connect the lines and enclose the legs with curved, triangles. They form Charmander's claws.

    Step 7

    Remove guides from the head and body.

    Use three lines to outline Charmander's tail, including the stripe at the bottom. Then use a series of curved lines, joined at the jagged points, to enclose the flame at the tip of his tail. Texture the flame using additional curves.

    Step 9

    Add details to Charmander’s face. Use a wide, curved line for his smiley face. Draw slightly curved lines to form the base of each eye and enclose a tall, curved shape above it. Draw an oval to form the pupil of each eye. Indicate the eyebrows and nostrils using small lines.
