On this page you will find easy instructions on how to draw princess step by step for kids. My princesses have a simple but beautiful design, easy to color and most importantly, draw very quickly. Along with the tutorial, I’ve also included a few free princess coloring pages that you can print out and have your students color in! There is also a helpful video tutorial that you can follow if you want to watch me draw the princess step by step.
Step 1. Face
To start your one-minute princess, draw a three-quarter oval for the face as shown in your right image. Follow up by drawing two rounded ovals for the eyes, small pointed nose, and smiling mouth. Be sure to include the “smile line” on each side of the mouth—my kids will complain if I forget to draw them!
Step 2 Faces
Continue filling in the details of the face by drawing eyelids, each complete with two eyelashes. You should now have a pretty little face looking back at you.
One of the simplest hairstyles you can do is to part your long hair. To draw the parting line, simply draw three lines running down the front of the forehead, just above the eyes to represent the hair. Then draw another line perpendicular to these three lines to represent the breakup. On the other side of this line, draw another line that is a bit more rounded to show the hair on the other side of her head.
Step 3 Hair
For me, the hair is the most fun part of drawing a princess. In this case, our princess has long and straight hair. To create her hair, simply draw three to four lines growing out from her head and fringe.
Obviously, not every kid wants a princess with long, straight hair. More often than not, they’ll want a princess in their own image, which means you may be asked to draw short curly hair, braids, ponytails, dumplings, or more.
Step 4 Neck, Shoulders and Crown
Now it’s time to sketch the neck, shoulders and crown!
The neck is easy, as all you need to do is draw two lines pointing downwards, one from the ears and one from the chin.
Shoulders extend from the neck, reaching beyond the outer hairs. Along with the shoulders, you can also draw on the top part of the dress. In this case, I gave her a fur necklace with a heart pendant in the middle. I also gave her a pearl necklace to make her look even more regal!
Step 5 Upper Body
How you draw the upper body really depends on the type of body that you want to give your princess. I like small breasts and medium waist so they don’t look like Barbie dolls. (We don’t want to send the wrong message to our children!)
If you want to draw a baby princess, all you have to do is flatten the bust by drawing two lines down the waist. If you like, you can belt your princess like I did here, or you can leave it as is.
Step 6 Arms
Drawing a princess’s arm can be tricky, especially in terms of the exact length. A few times I ended up with a princess that resembled Mr. Tickle in the series Mr. Men, or Stumpy! Try to bring your arms to just below the waist to look as natural as possible.
If finger painting makes you nervous, you can always draw a “glove hand” like I did with this princess. Kids don’t seem to mind either way!
Step 7 Outfit and final details
This is the part where you can go wild! Costumes exist in many forms, so just use your imagination. In this case, I drew a long, wide dress decorated with a favorite symbol, the heart. To make the dress look like it’s running along the ground, draw a slightly wider oval base like I did here. I have also included some wavy layers so my little ones can change the color of the dress.
The shoes can come out from underneath the dress as is the case with this princess, or you can dress her up in striking heels. I often ask my students which one they prefer.

Step 1
First, we will sketch a stickman or princess “skeleton”, which will be the basis for drawing future princesses. Let’s start with the head, describe it as an oval. Next, to the torso, outline the spine, on which we place the chest and pelvis. With a few simple lines, we sketch the arms and legs.
Step 2
Let’s mark the guides on top, they will help us find the center of the face and depict the eyes on the same level. Next, describe a thin neck and describe the girl’s torso
. The torso should be significantly narrowed at the waist and then widened again at the hips.
How to draw princess for beginners
Step 3
In the form of two balls, mark the shoulders. Further, in the form of a simple cylinder, outline the upper limbs of the princess. Sketch the hand as drawn in our example. Now, with the help of some lines, sketch the princess dress.
Step 4
Using the horizontal line drawn in the second stage, draw large and expressive eyes. Just below, mark a nose with a neat line and plump lips. Next, outline the eyebrows with two simple lines and describe the hairstyle. Don’t forget to sketch a crown.
Step 5
Now outline the main details of the princess’s clothes. Depicts a neckline on the chest and a pattern, as outlined in the example, drawn by the artists of Drawingforall.net. Next, go to the arms, and mark out the curvy outfit details on the shoulders and forearms.
Step 6
Using dark and clear lines, carefully trace the contours of the face and head, as drawn in our example. Engrave pupils to make the princess look more expressive. Using eraser, erase all unnecessary instructions from the princess’s head.
Step 7
Now perform the same actions, but with the princess’s body. That is, with the help of dark lines trace the body so that it becomes clean and has a complete shape. To make it look more complete, remove all unnecessary instructions from it.
Step 8
Continuing the torso lines, trace the princess’s shoulders, arms and hands. Pay special attention to the princess fingers (by the way, to learn more about them, visit our lesson on how to draw hands). Complete the stage by removing all unnecessary instructions from the upper limbs.
Step 9
Now trace the long lines of the princess dress. Next, remove all unnecessary auxiliary guides and add some vertical folds, as the Drawingforall.net artists did. If you did everything right, your princess artwork should look something like this.
Step 10
To make your princess drawing more realistic, add some shadows. To do this, use light and smooth shadows, as did the artists of Drawingforall.net. You can also add some color to your princess sketch or add more bloom layers to make the artwork more massive.

Step 1
Start by sketching Zelda’s face. Use two long, curved lines to form the cheeks and sides of the face. Extend two more lines to the bottom to form the neck. Draw a long and curved line through the top of the face and fold it in half to form the bands. Draw curved lines on each side of the face and connect them with a short line that meets at a pointed end. This indicates Zelda’s hair.
Step 2
Draw three circles, one larger than the others, at the base of the collar. Then use curved lines to outline the shoulders of the outfit. Below each shoulder, draw a pentagon. Between the pentagons, draw a larger, inverted pentagon. Draw a parallel, smaller pentagon inside it. Finally, Draw a “V” shaped line at the bottom of the pentagon to give it a three-dimensional shape.
Step 3
Draw Zelda’s crown, erasing guide lines as needed. In the center of the forehead, draw a curved diamond shape, with another smaller diamond inside. Smaller diamond texture with small marks. On each face of the rhombus, use straight and curved lines to draw shapes that look like bent triangles. Finally, fill in curved shapes to shape the eyebrows.
Step 4
Use curved lines to wrap the spikes on one side of the head, forming the ears and decorations. Use a curved line to form the torso, and outline Zelda’s extended arms and hands.
Step 5
Sketch of Zelda’s remaining arm and hand. Note the curves at the base of the sleeves, elbows, and palms.
Step 6
Use curved lines to draw the rest of Zelda’s body. Draw a belt of squares and circles. Draw a smaller circle in the first shape and use the lines to give the squares a three-dimensional shape.
Step 7
Wrap two elongated pentagons, one of the other, below the waist. Then outline the wings and the signature triangle in a triangle, the Triad of Strength, Wisdom, and Courage.
Step 8
Use long, overlapping curves to draw the pleats of Zelda’s dress. Decorate the dress by drawing a double wavy line on it.
Step 9
Detail of Zelda’s face and hair. Shade the big circles for the eyes and draw curved lines at the top and bottom of each line. Use curved lines for the nose, mouth, and chin. Wrap the ears and ornaments using curves that meet at points, and detail the inner ear and swirls of the ornament using complementary curves. Use long, curved lines at the serration points to wrap the hair.
Step 10
Color Princess Zelda. She has blonde hair.
