I will never know how in the world there are no more diving accidents.
Cut a wedge on the side opposite the direction you want the tree to fall. The first cut of the wedge should be horizontal, and I like the depth of this first cut to be a bit smaller than the radius of the stem. The second cut of the wedge should be at an angle, I like that this cut can be tilted about 30⁰ from the first cut. The third cut is on the opposite side of the wedge and goes all the way to the 30⁰ angle created earlier. Knocked down a wicked tall Italian cypress right in front of my house, the top of which fell in the middle of my street.
