With the Dust Brothers producing and Dave Grohl on the drums, Jack Black and Kyle Gass’ debut was a stadium-class debut. All that shimmering in production is best realized on ‘Wonderboy’, a fantasy epic that comes to life stupidly in the key of Zep, if only Robert Plant were engrossed in the story’ mucky muck’ and other nonsense. The album is impressive from front to back, but no song showcases the collision of absurdity and excess better.
