Step 1
As we said, a mermaid is a creature with the upper part being human and the lower part being fish. So initially outline the head in an oval shape. Next, draw a smooth long spine on the tail. Next outline the chest and arms.
Step 2
Let’s add some mass to our mermaid’s body. Outline the intersections on the head. Then, outline the torso narrowing at the waist, then widening at the hips and again slowly narrowing the tail. At the end of this step, outline the arms.
Step 3
Let’s add some basic details to our mermaid. With the help of slight curves, we outline the contours of the hair. On the face, we outline the eyes, nose and mouth. Next go down right below and draw details on the body and arm. Then draw the fins on the long tail.
Step 4
Erasing all the unnecessary tutorials from the head, we draw the hair and features of our mermaid’s face. Carefully draw the eyes, eyebrows, nose, ears, and lips.
Step 5
Let’s go down right below and pay attention to details on the torso and arms. Erase all the unnecessary guides and use clear and precise lines to draw the narrow body around the waist. Next draw thin arms with neat fingers.
Step 6
Delete all remaining lines from our mermaid’s body. Use clear and slightly curved lines to draw the tail. At the end of this step add the lines on the fins.
Step 7
With that, the mermaid painting is almost done and we just need to add the shadow. Add gentle shadows. If you do everything correctly, you get a realistic, three-dimensional drawing.
