    Drunk Voicemail

    New Sounds

Pom Pom Squad’s “Drunk Voicemail” is as gruesome as the pain itself. It revives, in just three and a half minutes, the lost artistry of the dark and gritty love song – or, if an image is helpful, what overlaps in the venn diagram of the “destructive relationship” and “alternative rock”. “Want to tell you I hate you but it’s a lie/” Because I think I love you more than I’m willing to try,” sings Mia Berrin. With guitars and vocals set appreciated, “Drunk Voicemail” depicts someone who holds a love so strong that it is not willing to give it away.

    X

    Jimmy Kimmel Live

With 333, Tinashe’s second independent release since leaving RCA in 2019, the Californian singer-songwriter enters her era of goddess enlightenment. True to the angelic number for which it is named, the album explores utopias erased from fear and “X”, featuring Jeremih, relies on a seductive cry and an experimental mid-tempo beat to express present a night under the care of the devil among the papers. Tinashe’s suggestive vocals glide between singing and rapping as she dares, “X marks the spot, can you find it now?”

    Back Of My Hand

    KEXP

Melina Duterte and Ellen Kemper seem made for each other. In Doomin’ Sun, their debut album as Bachelor, they took their respective projects Jay Som and Palehound and turned friendship into grit and tenderness. “Back Of My Hand” is a dig into the scary, overblown fandom. Kempner takes on the role of the singer, “I’m your biggest fan / Got your song in my head / And your poster is in my bed / You watch me sleep”. The chorus is a beautiful explosion of guitar and synth, a sound that I hope is more than just a one-time project.

    Yola

    OnePassionTv

Of the many explorations of what it takes and feels to curate Yola’s virtuoso album Stand for Myself, “Starlight” is the most sophisticated display of sensuality. It’s a sumptuous track, an inspiring exploration of the disco-era soul, and also a fully-grown fantasy. While waiting for fulfillment, she searches for her own longing. In the verses, she concludes her long, lavish phrases with a sly, sly push, then heightens a sense of expectation with her sumptuous delivery of sentences.

Once we’re lucky enough to look back at the pandemic in more foresight, Bo Burnham’s tragic Netflix special Inside will become one of its greatest artifacts. A time entry that captures the finer points of lock life, Inside has unleashed a series of hilarious and powerful songs like “That Funny Feeling,” which chronicles what might have happened when Elliott Smith tried to try to rewrite “We Didn’t Light a Fire.” (Sample lyrics: “Carpool Karaoke, Steve Aoki, Logan Paul/gunfield gift shop, mall mass shooting.”) In a textbook case of “identity games.” game”, Phoebe Bridgers began covering the song almost immediately; that the song fits seamlessly into her category speaks well of both.

    Carly Pearce

    Carly Pearce

One of the great themes of country music, and the source of its meaningful melancholy, is the fact that life goes on even after devastating losses. After you’ve fallen to pieces, albums like Carly Pearce’s perfectly charming, funny, and honest divorce album 29: Testimonials Written in Stone, you have to pick yourself up. The theme song, written by Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne’s masterfully honed confession masters, is Pearce’s act of coming clean, admitting that picture perfection isn’t in the cards. for her. Very few expressions of heartbreak are the obvious head, self-accusing in the name of healing. “Call it what it is,” Pearce sang in his lonely alto. She is getting ready for the next step.

    Chris Producer

Imagine you’re opening a door expecting a library but finding a zest. It’s “Pepas” by Farruko. The first whisper quickly escalates into a raucous party song, complete with hymns, reggaeton and EDM at the same time. Full disclosure, I don’t know what the song is called or what it’s about after hearing it explode everywhere – bodegas, bars and cars – since June. But each time, I surrender all. Turns out, I understood the mission. Widely translated, the song deals with living in the moment and partying like there’s no tomorrow

    Snail Mail

    IronChefWong

Few things feel more lawless than getting drunk and heartbroken at a party where you’re almost stealthily hiding from your friends to text your ex. Snail Mail’s “Automate” speaks to this feeling as Lindsey Jordan ponders a false reality with the one she loves while settling down for a stranger. In what may be one of Jordan’s most powerful lyrical songs, she constantly questions her thoughts, actions, and emotional objects. Her cloudy thinking conveys a clarity that so many of us lack sanity: “I guess I couldn’t keep her fire/And I’m like your dog,” she says. sing, and then, “so childish, I’m lonely when it’s time to quit the party.”

Moneybagg Yo “Wockesha” – Funny songs video

    Moneybagg Yo

    MoneyBagg Yo

Rappers have personified their vices as love interests since the beginning of rhyme. Common used to love H.E.R. Scarface sought solace in Mary Jane. Pac has relied on his happy “girlfriend” in this sinful life. There’s a lot to be said about men seeing physical weakness as a woman’s temptation, but Moneybagg Yo takes it a step further by giving its dependents a pet name: Wockesha is his lover, his therapist, his crutch – but most of all she’s the one leaning in his styrofoam cup. Needless to say, it was a toxic relationship. “I hope I’m not OD/she keeps saying po ‘me,” Yo raps melodiously on the same sample DeBarge made Biggie’s “One More Chance / Stay With Me (Remix)” a the famous Bad Boy ballad 26 years ago. The problem is that Moneybagg Yo knows his thug passion for Wockesha is questionable. But it is a constant cycle of longing and being burned. “I’m done with you in a minute / I’ll be back in the next minute,” he confessed. “Going your way, I go your way / but somehow we are still attached.” In an era where addiction takes lives too soon, Moneybagg’s honesty is at the same time unsettling and intimidating.

    Lyrics:
Yeah, I put the cup down for a minute but um
But honestly, it doesn’t matter what business is in my cup
What’s in your cup, what’s in their cup?
    It’s your cup drink it
So whateva hell was in my cup
The only reaction I do is to become more popular
More successful has done more than I have ever done
I should probably pick up that cup again

I’m sitting here looking at Kiesha like do you love me do you love me
    Damn, you hit the spot
Taste like candy, sweet like fruit
Wet like water, can you love me
Withdrawal I feel different every day, I need a medicine
Sometimes I still remember I had times when I met ghosts
But she’s mine, I’m stamping her, priority status for them other bitch to go crazy with her (too crazy, aha)
    Passing a friend
I gave it to you for the 2nd time
    Called I can’t leave you
Then I popped up like peek-a-boo
Here it is, more flyers than most Louis V coats
Gas station full cup coffee driving ion boat (nope)
Money can’t buy happiness but she found love inside a spot of wood
Head and something to eat, all the things a thug needs
Don’t lie that you get me more than my weed price
I’m showing my emotions as if I’m wearing them on my sleeve

One minute I’m done with you, I’ll be back the next
Go my way, I go my way but some ways we stick together
Tryna found my answer with this cup but not without truth
They’re like I’m dumbfounded for making love to you I’ve given stupid stands
I’m sitting here knowing that ion needs you to pour O in the cap
Sipping chatting with my coral, I can’t take my eyes off Wockesha
Watch me put my heart in this cup
In my feelings, she is my therapist, I am talking to this cup

Round the rose-z cup full of o-z
I hope I’m not praising, she kept saying blame me
Pass me purple demon emoji (devil)
Fuck me like you miss me, it’s been a week
This is not the playground we all loved (too big)
I’m so crazy, I pay four hunnids for an area (that’s powerful)
My bitch doesn’t like you, you damn my area (in my house)
Recurrence every time I try to leave you alone (I relapse)
People on the street look for her but she’s rare
Dark skinned purple hair stingy with her is hard to share
Never needed anyone but it’s great
    There’s someone that someone
Drop you off and pick you up whenever I feel like it
    This damn toxic
Let me know if you feel me
    Hmmm hmmm
I have to stop it, I have to stop it

One minute I’m done with you, I’ll be back the next
Go my way, I go my way but some ways we stick together
Tryna found my answer with this cup but not without truth
They’re like I’m dumbfounded for making love to you I’ve given stupid stands
I’m sitting here knowing that ion needs you to pour O in the cap
Sipping chatting with my coral, I can’t take my eyes off Wockesha
Watch me put my heart in this cup
In my feelings, she is my therapist, I am talking to this cup

The most powerful spells that make you dance. “Avalon,” by American folklorists Rhiannon Giddens and Francesco Turrisi, who published on the Italian border, practice that kind of alchemy. Featuring Justin Robinson (of Giddens’ former band Carolina Chocolate Drops), the song springs to the edge of death: As she, Turrisi, and guitarist Niwel Tsumbu lock into each other’s rhythms, Giddens plays the role. a person who is mourning by the grave suddenly can see the afterlife. As the only original song from Giddens and Turrisi’s wonderful album, They’re Calling Me Home, “Avalon” opens the portal to a collection of homecoming and homecoming songs. On its own, it is a prayer that goes beyond religion, in tune with earthly joy. —Ann Authority

    Taylor Swift

    Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift released 2012’s Red and grew up in a cross between country and pop, heartbreak and freedom. At 31, Swift has now released Red (Taylor’s Version), revisiting some of the unhealed wounds of nine years apart, freeing her from the anger she once refrained from venting. With this 10-minute version of the hit classic “All Too Well,” Swift extends compassion to her vulnerable young self through purposeful lyrics – “And I never good at telling jokes, but the bottom line is, ‘I’ll understand getting older, but your lovers are still my age’”- and the stark observations. The most powerful weapon in Swift’s arsenal is her ability to deploy the collective memory of her romantic life. When returning to a past relationship caused her extreme discomfort, she connects the sadness of her youth with a mature perspective.

Fresh, meticulous lyrical details show that from within, the overt and highly theorized relationship in question is unequal. The edited five-and-a-half-minute version is blameless and even nostalgic, but the 10-minute version of “All Too Well” is a simmering global tragedy when Swift, rightly, turns into a The passionate woman she was created to be all along. Even as critically acclaimed as in Swiftian’s fanlore, “All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)” proves itself to be Swift’s most authentic song, a considerable credit to her giant record, setting this record in succession once and for all. —LaTesha Harris

    Mimi XD

“Fat”, a parody of Michael Jackson’s “Bad”, was released in 1988 and was the second parody Weird Al made of a Jackson song, the first being “Eat It”. While the song itself is hilarious, the video that accompanies it is… well, no pun intended. The clip, which features Yankovic in a fat suit and the same subway setting from the ‘Bad’ video, parodies several elements of Jackson, including the costume and choreography. Also, it shows Yankovic getting fatter as the video goes on. To some shock, it won a Grammy for Best Concept Music Video in 1988, but we’re a big fan of Weird Al and find his videos hilarious, so we’re not too surprised.

‘I’m on a Boat’ – Funny songs video

    thelonelyisland

This song gave everyone an excuse to act like complete idiots, thanks ‘SNL!’ It’s one thing to scream “I’m on a boat!” when you’re actually on a boat (it’s like…never), but it’s a whole different story when you scream for no reason. The Lonely Island did it again with the 2009 release of ‘I’m on a Boat’, another SNL Digital Short that exploded like crazy. Rolling frickin’ Stone magazine gave the song four stars, and in December 2009 it was nominated for a Grammy in the category of Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. We love the song, especially T-Pain’s awesome Auto Random Tuning feature.

    The Offspring

Pretty Fly (for a White Guy)’ has been basically our anthem for the whole year…even though we’ve never considered ourselves a “flying man” or even a guy for the matter there, but you understand what we’re talking about. The song was released in 1998 and went Platinum 4 times, which is quite an achievement for Offspring. The video shows a guy trying to look cool in front of everyone by messing with his car’s hydraulics and trying to do a dance, but it’s really just our favorite song. Plus, whenever we hear the first notes of this fun song, we can’t resist shouting “Give it to me babyyy” at the top of our lungs.

This fun song is still on our iPod and has clearly been nicely tucked away in an all-in-and-out playlist. But take a minute to appreciate the fact that this song has been nominated for a Grammy! ‘Because I Got High’ really came out of nowhere, until it started going viral on the internet and exploded like wildfire. It was so loud, a child in Connecticut even had to listen to the song and write a report about it as punishment after he was arrested for marijuana. His parents probably didn’t realize it was a good punishment.

“Oh my God, Becky, look at her ass!” If you knew all the lyrics to this song back in the day, you’re definitely one of those cool kids. “My Anaconda doesn’t want to be without unless you have cake, hun” is what we shouted over and over in the hallways at school. “Baby Got Back” reached #1 in 1992 and was ranked 17th on VH1’s “100 Greatest Hip Hop Songs”. It’s just one of those songs so ridiculous you can’t help but simulate slapping each other on the dance floor.

This song is awesome. He refers to women’s curves as healthy, he says he won’t be verbally vulgar or physically assaulting women, he glorifies women who enjoy dieting, he doesn’t treat women like they’re disposable and he talks about striving for female pleasure, not just a pump or two. It is extremely positive.

We don’t even know where to start with this fun song, we’re just sad that there’s no official video to go with it. The LMFAO song is about…you guessed it… eating hot dogs. Or try to eat a hot dog, rather. The song is off their ‘Sorry For Party Rocking’ album and has lines like: “Street meat / Yeah, that’s what they call it / And I’ve become an alcoholic recently / Now some suppliers are real and some are fake. / What? You don’t have bacon.” Those are some really inspirational lyrics right there.

    Katy Perry

This little ditty was Katy Perry’s actual debut single, but it wasn’t really a hit. When asked about it, she explained that it wasn’t an explosive first single, and was only released to “hello” the world. And while many critics have criticized the song as homophobic, it’s really just about Katy hitting her ex-boyfriend who’s asexual. It may not be politically correct to say “you are very gay,” but we all are. And even Miss Perry admitted that she kissed a girl soon after…
