You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below
Step 1
Sketch the main body of the briefcase
Start by drawing the main part of the briefcase as a rectangle as shown in the example above. Give it rounded corners at all ends but make the corners at the bottom larger/rounder (larger corner radius).
Step 2
Draw handle
At the top of the pair add a handle. You can make it a bit thicker in the handle area than at the edges.
Step 3
Draw the lid
Go down to the middle of the briefcase to draw the lid (open/closed hat). Give it rounded corners on the sides and a lock in the middle.
Draw the padlock with a slightly vertical rectangle and slightly rounded corners.
Step 4
Draw the smaller details
With the main parts of the briefcase finished, you can add some smaller details. They should be as follows:
Outline the grip area of the handle
Draw small parts around the handle to attach it to the briefcase
Add a keyhole to the padlock
Attach a pair of small legs to the bottom
Step 5
Draw Stitches & Finish Lines
To complete the drawing, you can first give the briefcase some stitches that run along the edges of its body and main flap (as shown in the example). To do this, first draw the lines that the stitches will run along with a very light pencil (just dark enough that you can barely see them).
Once finished with trace on your drawing with a black pen, marker, or darker pencil lines. Alternatively, use any of these of your choice to create small dash lines along the light pencil lines.
Step 6
Color the briefcase
To color the briefcase you can choose any color and method you like (paints, crayons, markers, etc.). In this case, it will be light brown to look more like leather.
The small parts holding the handle and lock will be gray to show that they are metal, and the small pins will be yellow. You can also make the keyhole dark gray or black.
