You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below
Step 1
Start by drawing a small oval. This will help you sketch the horse’s head simply.
Step 2
Draw a larger, side-by-side circle without touching the first circle. This will help you outline the horse’s shoulders.
Step 3
Draw another oval in line with the other shapes. This will help you outline the horse’s hips.
Step 4
Draw a pair of curves between the circle of the head and the circle of the shoulders, outlining the arched neck.
Step 5
Connect the shoulders and hips using a pair of curves, outlining the back and abdomen. Use a curve to contour the hips on the back of the oval.
Step 6
Start to detail the horse’s face. Draw a long line, almost straight through the oval, extending out from it. At the bottom, draw a series of curves to form the nostrils and the upper lip.
Step 7
Connect the lips to the circle using a curve. Allows the path to go into the oval and outlines the jaw’s curve.
Step 8
Start sketching the horse’s legs. Use a curve or a series of curves for the front of each line. Note the bends of the knees and ankles.
Step 9
Draw the back of the legs parallel to the front. Using a series of curves for each line, note the bend points of the knees and ankles.
Step 10
Draw a nail at the bottom of each leg. Use curves to outline triangles with rounded corners.
Step 11
Draw the ears. Use curves to outline triangles and semicircles.
Step 12
Draw a horse’s mane using short lines that meet at jagged points.
Step 13
Draw the mane. From head to shoulder, draw a series of curves that meet at jagged points.
Step 14
Clear guide lines from your horse, leaving a clear outline on the animal.
Step 15
Use the curves to outline the triangle of the eye and a small oval for the nostrils.
Step 16
Draw a short curve to separate the upper and lower lips. Draw a curve across the eye to indicate the pupil.
Step 17
Start drawing the tail. Elongate a long curve from the hips.
Step 18
Complete the tail section. Draw another long curve and connect these two curves with a series of short curves that meet at the jagged points.
Step 19
Tail texture with a long curve.
Step 20
Color your cartoon horse. Horses come in many colors and patterns. They can be white, black, gray, brown, tanned or reddish. Some have spots, and others have signs called socks or socks on the legs, or red spots or stars on the face.
