Step 1.
Outline the calyx tube of the daffodil.
First, start with the outline of the daffodil’s calyx tube. As you can see it looks like a tube.
Step 2.
Start sketching the daffodils petals.
In this step, we just need to outline the position of the future petals using an oval shape.
Step 3.
Draw the outer petals of the calyx.
Once you have completed the outlines of the daffodils, draw the outline of the opening of the calyx.
Step 4.
Draw the shapes of daffodils petals.
Draw triangles extending the circles outlining the daffodils petals. Stretching the circles into a triangle shape will later transform into beautiful petals.
Step 5.
Detailed view of daffodils petals.
In this step, we begin to detail the daffodil with curved strokes for the sepals and petals. The curved shape of the calyx will make the painting realistic. The curves going from the inside of the daffodils add volume to the drawing.
Step 6.
Add stems, leaves, and shade to the daffodil drawing.
In the final step of the drawing, carefully remove any unnecessary lines. Adding dashes and lines inside and outside the calyx of different sizes and curves will add volume. As a final step, you can add stems and leaves. The long, soft lines along the leaves will help you recreate the bright grooves in the leaves.
