Director Joe Johnston takes over the creative reins from Steven Spielberg for this third installment in the horror franchise. Sam Neill returns as Dr. Alan Grant, a scientist who has been tricked into flying over Isla Sorna by wealthy couple Paul and Amanda Kirby (William H. Macy and Tea Leoni). The subject of their visit is one of the islands in Costa Rica that has ferocious dinosaurs, genetically bred and the “B site” setting of Jurassic Park 2: The Lost World (1997). After their plane landed, it was revealed that the Kirbys family was actually searching for their teenage son, who went missing on the island after a paragliding accident. Trapped on Isla Sorna, Grant and his companions uncover some painful truths the hard way. Among their discoveries: some scaly monsters possessed more advanced communication abilities than previously believed, the fearsome Tyrannosaurus Rex had a bigger and more dangerous competitor, and those The flying Pteranodons pose an even greater threat than some of their land-based brethren.
