You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

Step 1

Begin sketching the dock by drawing the riverbank. Use short lines that meet at jagged points to create an “S” shaped line.
This is a lawn on the riverbank. Then, use a curved line to enclose part of the earthen embankment, giving the riverbank a three-dimensional appearance.

Step 2

Draw the piles, which are the pillars that support the dock. Enclose a rounded rectangle for each. Then, use straight lines to draw the two edges of the base surface.

Step 3

Tie each stake with three curved lines near the top. Then, use straight lines to complete the pier’s rectangle. Drive three more rounded rectangular stakes on the opposite side of the dock.

Step 4

Tie the remaining stakes using three curves each. Give the piles a three-dimensional cylinder by drawing a “C” shaped line on top of each pile.
Then, connect them with ropes – a pair of parallel curves between each post.

Step 5

Draw straight, parallel lines on the base to give it the texture of wooden panels. Then start drawing the canoe. Use curved lines that meet at a point at one end.

Step 6

Use curved lines that meet at jagged points to enclose the remaining three sides of the canoe. Inside the boat, place partial parallelograms to form benches or seats.
Sketch of the oar on the boat – a rounded rectangle with a handle of parallel lines. Connect the boat to the dock using two parallel curved lines, forming a rope.

Step 7

Use long, sweeping curves to draw the opposite side of the lake as well as the horizon. Texture the boat with curved lines to represent the wooden panels.
Draw the grass on the nearest riverbank using curved lines that meet in jagged points.

Step 8

Draw clouds in the sky – straight lines at the bottom and a series of interconnected “U” shaped lines at the top.
From the grass, extend curved lines, followed by ovals and short lines. These are aquatic plants called cattails.

Step 9

Texture the water with curved lines, especially drawing ripples around the boat and pilings. Outline the grass at the edge of the dock, erasing as necessary, and using curved lines that meet in jagged points.

Step 10

Your dock outline is now complete. Color your peaceful river scene – blue sky, blue water, green grass and brown wooden objects.
