You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

Step 1

Outline the basic concept
First, draw three circles. The largest image is at the back. In fact, it looks like an upside down snowman. Don’t try to draw completely flat and symmetrical shapes.

Step 2

Outline the limbs and spine
Second, pose your otters. To do this, draw a line from the head, through the chest to the pelvis, then turn it into the tail. Four small lines protrude from the chest and pelvis, becoming the limbs.

Step 3

Draw the front of the muzzle
Draw the muzzle on the left side of the head. Now, you can see that image is a mouse, however, no, it is still an otter. Shown by a dash where the otter’s mouth is.

Step 4

Draw the otter’s eyes and nose
Start detailing first. Draw the outer edge of the ear, which looks like two semicircles of different sizes. Then outline the nose and mouth using the small oval.

Step 5

Draw the otter’s front legs
Draw the outline of the otter’s short, strong forelegs. Draw a tapered line gradually downwards. Use the lines from the second step as a guide.

Step 6

Draw the toe of the front foot
So add four toes to the front foot, and finish with sharp claws. By the way, otters’ claws are quite large and dangerous – sharpen them properly.

Step 7

Draw the hind legs
Draw the hind legs even larger and more massive. These limbs are as wide as possible in the area connected to the body of our animal.

Step 8

Draw the toes of the hind legs
We are approaching the end of this tutorial on how to draw an otter. So outline the outline of the long and slender hind paws with pointed claws.

Step 9

Delete the rule
In this step you need to remove all the extra lines from your otter sketch and leave the single final contrasting outline of the work without unnecessary guides.

Step 10

Coloring otter drawing
Use brown as your base color. The darker shade of this color is a great choice for painting small shadows. A white highlight line inside the eye contour will make your drawing look more vivid and realistic.
