You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

Step 1

Start by drawing an oval. This will form the basis for the head of Bulbasaur.

Step 2

Detail shape of the head. Add the ears by wrapping the triangles on the top of the head. Notice how the tips of the ears are rounded. Use a curved line to detail the shape of the jaw.

Step 3

Draw the back of the head using a short and curved line. Then, wrap the circle shape of the body.

Step 4

Draw Bulbasaur’s legs. For each leg, extend a pair of curved lines from the upper body. Draw small rounded triangles to form the claws, enclosing the feet in the process.

Step 5

Outline the back legs using curved lines. Notice the rounded nature of the squat leg. Use small rounded triangles to form the claws.

Step 6

Remove guides from the head and body.

Step 7

Draw a living tree on Bulbasaur’s back. Extend two curved lines from the back, almost enclosing a semicircle. Connect the lines using a series of “V” shaped lines. Then use curved lines to wrap the additional parts of the tree on either side of the shape. Connect these lines to the center of the tree using small “V” shaped lines.

Step 8

Draw points on Bulbasaur’s forehead, legs, and back. Within each set of points, include a large, circular, roughly diamond-shaped point and one or more smaller, triangular points.

Step 9

See Bulbasaur’s face in detail. Use curves to enclose Bulbasaur’s large and smiling mouth. Draw a curved line through the mouth to represent the tongue and two small inverted triangles at the top of the mouth to represent the teeth. Glue the teardrop shapes to form the eyes. Indicate the iris of the eye using a curved line and a narrow oval for the pupil. Indicate the eyebrows and nostrils using short lines.

Step 10

Color your Bulbasaur. He is usually turquoise or cyan green, with a pink tongue, green spots, and a green plant on his back.
