How to draw windmill step by step

Please see the drawing tutorial in the video below

You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

Step 1

Start by drawing the center axis and the “X” shaped sails of the windmill. First, draw a small circle. Extend a pair of straight, parallel lines from it at a diagonal angle. Connect them at the end. Then repeat this process until you have drawn four sail stocks.

Step 2

Start drawing the supports of each sail. From the sail neck, extend four straight lines. Duplicate them back to reconnect to the stock.

Step 3

Continue drawing the supports of each sail. Again, from each sail, extend four straight lines. Duplicate them back to reconnect to the stock.

Step 4

Finish drawing the final sail supports. Then draw curved lines from one stand to another on each sail. This outlines the sails or the edges of the sail.

Step 5

Start drawing windmills behind the sails. Use curved lines to outline a curved triangle, partially hidden behind the sail. Then draw a curved line parallel to the base of the triangle and connect them at each end. Finally, extend the two curved lines downward from the corners of the triangle.

Step 6

Complete the windmill tower outline. Extend two more curved lines down from the bottom of the triangular roof. Then connect the lines with straight lines. Below this, use five lines to enclose a geometric shape, outlining the base of the windmill.

Step 7

Draw a door at the base of the windmill. Use an inverted “U” shaped line. Then draw a small oval for the door handle and vertical lines to indicate the wood panels.

Step 8

Draw the window on the windmill tower. First, use short lines to outline the rectangles. They form the lower windowsill. Then, above each sill, outline the window with an inverted “U” shaped line.

Step 9

Draw lines parallel to the top of the windmill foundation. From each corner, extend a straight line downwards. Then outline squares and rectangles with rounded corners to represent the texture of the bricks.

Step 10

Color your cartoon windmill. European windmills are usually brown and cream in color. They may have sections made of red brick or gray stone.
