You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

Step 1

Start by drawing two overlapping ovals, one smaller than the other. These shapes will form the head and body of the crocodile.

Step 2

Connect the oval at the bottom with a curve, while outlining the neck of the crocodile. Use a series of short curves to detail the top of the crocodile’s head in the smaller oval. Notice the larger curves that form the crocodile’s eye edges.

Step 3

Use small, overlapping curves to form the upper part of the crocodile’s snout and a wavy line to form its lower body. Then, use a long curve to outline the lower half of the alligator’s jaw.

Step 4

Stretch two long and curved lines from the larger oval to form the crocodile tail. Note that the lines intersect at a sharp point.

Step 5

Stretch another pair of curves from the top and one side of the tail, allowing the lines to meet at a sharp point. This forms a curl at the tail and gives it a three-dimensional look.

Step 6

Draw the legs. Use curves to outline shoulders and hips, as well as bent knees. Cover the foot using “U”-shaped lines to form the toes. At the tip of each toe, draw and shade a small triangle, denoting claws.

Step 7

Delete the guide lines left by the original oval.

Step 8

Detail of the crocodile’s face. Use a long, curved line to surround the opening of the mouth. In the mouth, envelops an irregular shape to form the tongue. Draw a line down the middle of the tongue and outline four triangular teeth. Use the curves to detail the nostrils, the corners of the mouth, and the top of the snout. Apply a circle for each eye. Draw a circle to form the pupil and a smaller circle inside it. Shade between two circles.

Step 9

Crocodile body texture. Vortex with curves, and adorn the back and tail with triangular, shaded triangular lines.

Step 10

Color your crocodile. Most gators are green, brown, or gray. Crocodile with black and yellow stripes.
