How to draw Tom from Tom and Jerry Step by Step

Please see the drawing tutorial in the video below

You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

Step 1

Start by sketching Tom’s face. Use curves to draw the forehead, cheeks, and chin. Use short, overlapping curves that meet at jagged points to indicate tufts on one side of the face.

Step 2

See Tom’s mouth details. Use “U”-shaped lines to draw the lower jaw and inner mouth. Surround a peanut shape and an opening “U” above this. Finally, sketch the nose in a peanut shape.

Step 3

Draw Tom’s ear. Use the curves to outline the triangular shapes of the ears. Then, use a long, curved line to draw the inside of the ear close. View inner ear details by short curves that meet at the points. Use curves that meet in points to draw tufts of feathers that rise between the ears.

Step 4

Use curves and lengths to outline Tom’s body. Notice how the lines converge and overlap between the chest and abdomen.

Step 5

Draw Tom’s arm, erase as needed. Use two lines for the upper arm and two lines for the lower part. Notice how they overlap on curved elbows. Use curves to draw backs and palms, and “U”-shaped lines for the fingers. Draw a zigzag line at the wrist.

Step 6

Use long and curved lines to draw the other arm. Notice how short lines that meet at a jagged point are used to create the texture of the bristles. Use “U”-shaped lines to surround your fingers and thumb, and draw a zigzag line along the wrist.

Step 7

Draw Tom’s leg. Use a series of short lines that meet at jagged points to draw legs, bent at the knees. Then use the curves to outline the foot and “U”-shaped lines to wrap the toes. Use a curve to wrap the pad at the bottom of the raised foot.

Step 8

Use a long, curved line to outline the point on Tom’s stomach. Use a pair of curves that meet at one point to draw the tail. Draw a zigzag line near the tip.

Step 9

See Tom’s face in detail. Use the curves to draw a tongue in the mouth and the beard that extends from each side of the nose. Composed of three oval smaller than one consecutive part to form the eye, the smallest shading to denote the pupil. Draw curves between the eyes and surround a curve above each eye to represent the eyebrows.

Step 10

Color Tom. He is usually gray with white markings on his arms, legs, face, and tail. Then learn how to draw more of your favorite cartoon characters!
